Texans vs. Colts Money Line Prediction for Week 7

Houston Texans(4-2) @ Indianapolis Colts(3-2)

  • Where: Lucas Oil Stadium. Indianapolis, IN
  • When: October 20, 2019 1:00 pm EST
  • Spread: Texans +1 (-110) vs. Colts -1 (-110)

The Indianapolis Colts 3-2 (3-1-1 ATS) host the Houston Texans 4-2 (4-2 ATS) in a critical game for the two AFC South rivals who are battling it out atop the division. This is the first of two H2H meetings.

Houston come into this match-up with two consecutive wins against ATL (53-32) and KC (31-24). Indy are coming off a bye, but defeated KC (19-13) in week 5 after suffering a week 4 loss to OAK (31-24).

Texans vs. Colts Week 7 Betting Lines Report

The point spread opened up at -2.5 in favor of the Colts, but has since dropped to Colts -1, as about 60% of the early ATS bets have been on the Texans to start the week.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the Texans end up being favored by kick-off on Sunday.

There hasn’t been any movement on the game total yet. The O/U line opened up at 47.5 points and has remained the same at the majority of online bookies, including Bovada (US Players – $250 Bonus).

Texans at Colts Injury Report for Week 7

The Colts are relatively healthy considering it’s week 7.. Darius Leonard and Clayton Geathers have both cleared concussion protocol and are expected to play, which will strengthen the defense.

Malik Hooker is questionable, but optimistic he could suit up. Lastly, rookie WR Parris Campbell is still recovering after his abdominal procedure and isn’t likely to play for another week.

Houston are dealing with more injuries than the Colts. Bradley Roby is doubtful, Both Kenny Stills and Johnathan Joseph missed last week and are questionable to return on Sunday.

RT Tytus Howard is also going to miss multiple weeks after spraining his MCL.

How the Texans and Colts Match-Up Statistically

Here’s how these two teams match-up on paper heading into this rivalry game:

The Colts have done a great job offensively after losing Andrew Luck abruptly prior to the regular season starting. They’ve focused on running the football and they’ve had success.

Texans vs. Colts Predictions for Week 7 2019Indy have also limited turnovers (3 INTs / 2 Fumbles), however, the defense has only forced five TOs (2 INTs and 3 Fumbles), which is a considerable drop from last season (26 Takeaways in 16 Games).

This will be another big test for the Colts defense. Indy have had an easy schedule, but the defense stepped up against KC in week 5, holding Patrick Mahomes to 321 passing yards and 1 TD.

Houston have the more explosive offense. Deshaun Watson has thrown for 1644 yards 12 TDs and 3 INTs. More importantly, RB Carlos Hyde is having a resurgent season (426 rushing yards and 3 TDs) in a starting role for the Texans.

The battle between the Colts rushing attack and the Texans run defense is going to be big. Houston have been strong against the run and haven’t allowed 100+ rushing yards since week 2.

Why I’m Betting on the Texans to Win Against the Colts

The Colts secondary is banged up and they’ll be playing a Texans offense that has been on a tear in recent weeks. Watson has been getting it done through the air and on the ground (5 Rushing TDs).

Indy and Houston both defeated KC largely because of time of possession. Houston had 39:48 ToP and the Colts had 37:15 ToP against the Chiefs. I expect the Colts trying to employ a similar strategy, but won’t be able to, as the Texans run defense is much stronger than the Chiefs.

The Colts aren’t going to be able to run the football, which will force Jacoby Brissett to try and match the Texans passing attack. Not only do the Texans have a big edge at QB, but they have an edge at WR (DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller and Stills vs. T.Y. Hilton, Zach Pascal and Deon Cain).

My one concern is the Texans have lost 4 of the last 5 H2H games against the Colts. Watson hasn’t been great against the Colts either, but there’s a big talent gap in this match-up. I also have the Texans pegged as the best team in the AFC South and they need to come out and prove it this week.
