SUNDAY Night Football will feature the New York Giants 2-2 (3-1 ATS) and San Francisco 49ers 1-3 (1-3 ATS). The Giants have won two consecutive wins and the 49ers come into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Will these two trends continue or will the 49ers upset the Giants at MetLife Stadium?

Early action has come in on the Giants (76%) to cover ATS and most shops have the G-Men at -7 already. The total is low and the over has been getting bet more often than the under (67% vs. 33%).
Stats Pack
We’re now going to take a look at which team has the edge on paper.
- Points Scored: 49ers 12.0 PPG (32nd) vs. Giants 25.5 PPG (9th)
- Passing Yards (OFF): 158.8 PYPG (32nd) vs. Giants 242.8 PYPG (19th)
- Rushing Yards (OFF): 49ers 130.2 RYPG (5th) vs. Giants 93.0 RYPG (24th)
- Points Against: 49ers 27.5 PPG (28th) vs. Giants 20.5 PPG (11th)
- Passing Yards (DEF): 49ers 263.2 PYPG (21st) vs. Giants 316.2 PYPG (32nd)
- Rushing Yards (DEF): 49ers 114.0 RYPG (20th) vs. Giants 69.8 RYPG (1st)
- Turnover Differential: 49ers -5 TOD (30th) vs. Giants +6 TOD (4th)
The 49ers offense is terrible. Carlos Hyde has been the lone bright spot, as he has run the football effectively, but the Giants rank 1st against the run. Based on the statistics, it looks like it’ll be a long day for San Fran.
49ers vs. Giants Predictions
After a week one win against the Vikings – things were looking up for the Niners. However, they’ve gone on to lose against the Steelers (43-18), Cardinals (47-7) and Packers (17-3).
New York started slow with losses to the Cowboys (27-26) and Falcons (24-20), but they’ve bounced back with wins against the Redskins (32-21) and Bills (24-10). The defense has been impressive, albeit surprisingly so.
You may remember the 49ers came into MetLife Stadium and beat the Giants last season (16-10). But, if you look at the stats, Eli Manning threw 5 INTs and the 49ers were still only able to score 16 points.
Manning has seemingly worked out his turnover issues, as he has thrown for 7 TDs and only 1 INT this season. The key for the Giants will be to avoid turnovers. If they do that – they’ll win the game at home.
Now the bigger question is will they win by a touchdown?
We all know Colin Kaepernick and the offense is struggling. Hyde had 168 rushing yards in the week one win, but he has had 51 rushing yards or fewer in each loss. It didn’t take long for teams to game plan against Hyde.
The 49ers defense is struggling as well – ranking below 20th in passing and rushing yards allowed.
Victor Cruz is still injured, but the Giants pass game has been looking good. Odell Beckham Jr. hasn’t exploded yet, but Rueben Randle, Larry Donnell and Shane Vereen are all producing in the pass game.
The Giants will be able to move the football, so as long as they avoid turnovers, they’ll score points. On defense they need to shutdown Hyde and force passing downs. The 49ers have allowed 14 sacks already.
I’m not even going to touch the 49ers vs. Giants over/under betting market.
The total is low at 43 points, but where are the points going to come from? SF likely won’t break double-digits and the G-Men never pile up the points. However, with turnovers likely, I don’t like the under either.
The under is 4-1 in the last five H2H match-ups and most games went way under the total. The 49ers are also 2-7 ATS in the last nine H2H games against the Giants. Even when the 49ers were good they struggled against NYG.
Everyone expected the 49ers to struggle this season and there’s no doubt they will.
