NFL Week 16: Cowboys vs. Eagles Betting Lines and Picks

Dallas Cowboys(7-7) @ Philadelphia Eagles(7-7)

  • Where: Lincoln Financial Field. Philadelphia, PA
  • When: December 22, 2019 4:25 pm EST
  • Spread: Cowboys -3 (-110) vs. Eagles +3 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Cowboys (-150) vs. Eagles (+130)
  • Over / Under: Over 46.5 (-110) vs. Under 46.5 (-110)

The game of the week features the Dallas Cowboys (8-6 ATS) vs. Philadelphia Eagles (5-9 ATS).

The NFC East race is coming down to the wire. If the Cowboys win on Sunday they’ll lock up the division and will be able to rest up some players in their week 17 game against Washington.

Philly needs to win on Sunday to keep their playoff hopes alive. The fact the Eagles still control their destiny is remarkable, but if they win their remaining two games, they’ll win the NFC East.

The Eagles could also win the division if they defeat Dallas and lose to NYG. If that happens, Philly would need the Cowboys to lose to the Redskins, which isn’t likely, so the Eagles can’t afford to lose.

Cowboys at Eagles Market Movement – Point Spread and Over/Under

Dallas opened up as -2.5 point road favorites against the Eagles. That line has already been bet up to -3 at Bovada ($250 NFL Bonus). I doubt we’ll see the line rise above the key number of three points.

The game total opened up at 47.5 points, but has been bet down to 46.5 points.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles Preview and Stats

Statistically, the Cowboys have been among the best teams in the NFL all season, but that hasn’t always translated into victories. They also padded their numbers against inferior opposition.

Here’s how these two teams match-up on paper:

Dallas have a +90 point differential, which is sixth-best in the NFL. The problem with Dallas is they’ve struggled against better competition. Dallas are 1-5 against teams with a winning record.

DAL at PHI Week 16 PreviewThese two teams played in Dallas in week 7 and the Cowboys won 37-10. Dallas rushed the football 36 times for 189 yards and 3 TDs in the win. Ezekiel Elliott had 111 rushing yards and 1 TD.

Philly struggled to get anything going in the first head-to-head (H2H) game. Carson Wentz threw for 191 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT, while the run game gained 115 rushing yards on 28 carries.

The Eagles were healthier in the first match-up. The team’s #1 WR Alshon Jeffery just underwent foot surgery and is done for the season. Nelson Agholor missed last week and is still questionable.

Jordan Howard missed his fifth game last week and is also questionable. Miles Sanders would start if Howard is out. Sanders leads the team with 687 rushing yards, but he only has 2 rushing TDs.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles Best Bets for Week 16

I’m surprised Dallas aren’t favored by more, but it allows us to bet the money line.

The injuries are piling up in Philly on offense. It’s going to be tough for them to keep up with the Cowboys offense, especially if Agholor is unable to suit up on Sunday.

Greg Ward and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside aren’t going to get it done. Dallas are actually good against the pass as well and the Eagles run game isn’t going to scare any defense.

After losing three games in a row the Cowboys built some confidence with a convincing win against the Rams (44-21) in week 15. Dallas rushed for 263 yards and 3 TDs on 45 carries.

Elliott and Tony Pollard both exceeded 100+ rushing yards. It was good to see, as the Cowboys need the run game going to open up the pass game for Dak Prescott.

Prescott has put up solid numbers this season. He has thrown for 4334 yards (65.5% Completion), 26 TDs and 11 INTs. He has also been sacked 18 times whereas Wentz has been sacked 35 times.

Since 2018, these teams have played three times. The Cowboys have won every game. The final scores in those H2H games were 27-20 (47 Points), 29-23 (52 Points) and 37-10 (47 Points).

I expect the Eagles to be able to limit the Cowboys run game a bit better than they did in the first meeting. If they’re able to do that then this game will stay under the total of 46.5 points.
