We’re quickly nearing the halfway point of the shortened MLB regular season.

I thought it’d be a good time to take a look at the updated 2020 World Series odds. We’ve seen quite a bit of movement in this futures market since we first looked at the MLB World Series odds in April.

That was before we knew how the MLB season would play out.

You can bet on season-long MLB futures all season at Bovada ($250 Bonus). They regularly update the odds on futures markets, though, so jump on your best bets now before the price shorterns.

Yankees and Dodgers Still World Series Favorites

Yankees and Dodgers World Series FavoritesBack in April, the Dodgers were +325 and the Yankees were +350 to win the World Series.

Not much has changed with these two teams. The Yankees are +340 to win it all and the Dodgers are +375 at Bovada. The Yankees (16-8) lead the American League East despite a two-game losing streak, while the Dodgers (18-8) lead the National League West with the best record in baseball.

There’s little doubt these two teams are going to make the MLB playoffs in 2020.

Losing Giancarlo Stanton for an expected 3-4 weeks will hurt the Yankees, but they have plenty of hitting depth. The Yankees are third in MLB in home runs (43) and RBIs (124).

Mookie Betts is fitting in with his new team. He leads the Dodgers in batting average (.306), home runs (9) and RBIs (21). LAD lead the league in home runs (49) and RBIs (141).

Athletics and Twins Out to Fast Starts in 2020

The Oakland Athletics (17-8) have the second best record in MLB right now.

Oakland have a lot of big bats, but the pitching has been a welcome surprise. The Athletics rank #5 in team ERA (3.72), #1 in saves (11) and #15 in strikeouts (212). Liam Hendriks is tied for the lead in MLB with 8 saves and Chris Bassitt (2-0) has been a surprise with a 2.93 ERA in 27.2 innings.

The Athletics have a deep batting order too. Six players already have 12+ RBIs this season.

Matt Olson (8 HRs and 16 RBIs) and Matt Chapman (6 HRs and 17 RBIs) are off to good starts.

Oakland’s odds to win the 2020 World Series have dropped from +2200 to +1000.

The Minnesota Twins (16-9) were hyped during the preseason because of the big bats in their line-up and they’ve seen their odds to win the 2020 World Series drop rapidly.

In April, the Twins were +1600 to win the World Series, but now they’re down to +750 odds.

Nelson Cruz leads the team in about every hitting statistic. He leads the Twins in batting average (.337), home runs (8), RBIs (23), on-base percentage (.416) and hits (30).

The Twins have been winning without Josh Donaldson for most of the month as well.

Donaldson only had 22 at bats (1 HR and 2 RBIs) prior to going down with an injury. If he can come back healthy and add power to the middle of the order like he was supposed to, the Twins will be even more dangerous. The Twins still rank #6 in home runs (38) and #12 in RBIs (117).

Pitching has been excellent for the Twins. They rank #4 in team ERA (3.46) and #13 in strikeouts (213).

Nationals Off to Rocky Start After Winning 2019 World Series

The Washington Nationals (9-12) are last in the NL East. Juan Soto (7 HRs and 16 RBIs) has been one of the lone bright spots on the team. Losing Anthony Rendon this off-season has hurt the offense.

Washington hit for a good average (.263 / 3rd in MLB), but they rank #19 in RBIs (97) and #22 in HRs (27). The pitching was projected to among the best in the majors, but that hasn’t been the case.

Stephen Strasburg is out with an injury and has only pitched twice this season. Max Scherzer (3.71 ERA) and Patrick Corbin (3.91 ERA) both have ERAs hovering around four, which won’t cut it.

With expanded MLB playoffs, the Nationals aren’t out of it yet, but they need to get going quickly.

In April, the Nats were priced at +1800 to repeat as World Series champions, but with the slow start, you can now bet the Nationals to win the 2020 World Series at +2500 odds.
