NFL Week 2 Picks: Lions vs. Packers Over/UnderThe Green Bay Packers (1-0 / 1-0 ATS) host the Detroit Lions (0-1 / 0-1 ATS) at Lambeau in week 2.

Green Bay opened the season with a road win against the Vikings (43-34) as small underdogs and the Lions lost at home to the Bears (27-23) as a small favorite.

Aaron Rodgers played amazingly despite having limited weapons. He threw for 364 yards and 4 TDs in the win. Davante Adams hauled in 14 receptions for 156 yards and 2 TDs.

Matthew Stafford struggled a bit against the Bears. He finished with 297 passing yards, but only 1 TD and 1 INT. The Lions need #1 WR Kenny Golladay to get healthy enough to play this week.

It’s still early in the week, but there has been no line movement on the point spread. The Packers are still at -6 (-110). We could see this line jump if Golladay is ruled out later in the week.

The Lions vs. Packers over/under has seen a lot of movement.

The game total opened up at 46 points, but it has already been bet up to 49 points. The sharps were quick to jump on the soft line, but now that it’s up to 49 points, that seems a little high.

Lions vs. Packers Week 2 Preview and Stats Analysis

Here’s how these two teams rank on offense and defense after the opening week:

There isn’t too much we can glean from these statistics after just one week, but I have to say that I was surprised the Packers offense looked so good on the road against the Vikings.

After watching the Packers against the Vikings, their passing attack is going to be fine.

Adams dominated, but Marquez Valdes-Scantling had 4 receptions for 96 yards (1 TD) and Allen Lazard had 4 receptions for 63 yards (1 TD). Both should have big roles this season.

Aaron Jones was held to 66 rushing yards and 1 TD on 16 carries in week 1, but the Lions were just shredded by the Bears rushing attack and he’s going to have a big game on the ground.

Lions vs. Packers H2H Results (Head-to-Head)

During the 2017 and 2018 seasons, the Lions went 4-0 against GB. However, last year, the Packers were able to reverse that trend with two wins. They won 23-22 at home and 23-20 in Detroit.

Both games were extremely close. The Lions are 6-0 ATS in the last six H2H games against GB.

However, the Lions can’t be trusted on the road. The Lions are 0-5 ATS in their last five road games and 0-4 ATS as a road underdog. That’s why I’m betting on the Lions vs. Packers game total.

Lions vs. Packers Week 2 Prediction O/U

You could wait until later in the week to see if this line continues to jump, but I’m going to jump on it now at 49 points in case we see some of the early line movement reversed.

Nearly everyone is betting on the over in the Lions vs. Packers in week 2.

However, the last three H2H games have gone under the total. None of those totals were this high either. The totals from the previous three games were 44.5, 47 and 44 points.

These two NFC North rivals know each other well and I expect a close game.

Jones should have success on the ground as well, which can eat up the clock. Rodgers isn’t going to need to air it out as much and the Lions secondary will be able to limit him.

The Lions offense was weak against the Bears and that’s unlikely to change against GB. Stafford is going to have success moving the football, but then they’ll end up settling for FGs.

The under has gone 9-1 in the Packers last 10 games against the NFC North. The Packers have also gone under the total in 5 of their last 6 games after scoring 30+ points in the previous game.

With everyone betting on the over, I’m betting on under 49 points.
