Giants vs. Falcons Betting Lines

When: 1:00pm ET. Sunday, December 16th 2012
Where: Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia

The Atlanta Falcons (11-2, 7-5-1 ATS) have already locked up the NFC South, but the New York Giants (8-5, 6-7 ATS) still have a lot to play for this Sunday. The Redskins and Cowboys are only 1 GB in the NFC East, and both of them have better divisional records than the Giants. If the Giants lose this game, they make things much more difficult for themselves.

This game means a lot more to the Giants than the Falcons, but after an embarrassing 30-20 loss on the road to the lowly Panthers last week the Falcons need to right the ship quickly. Atlanta needs to build confidence before the playoffs, and of course they want to hold onto their #1 playoff seed. For any pure football fan, this is one of the best games to watch in week 15.

The Giants vs. Falcons betting lines opened with Atlanta favored by -1 and the over/under at 52.5 points. The spread is now Atlanta -1.5 at JustBet, and the over/under has come down to 50.5. If you like Atlanta but don’t want to give up the points, they’re -125 on the money line.

Giants vs. Falcons Week 15 Injury Report

Some big offensive players could miss this game. Roddy White missed practice again and is going to be a game-time decision. On the Giants, Ahmad Bradshaw has a knee injury and reports out of New York say that it’s possible he won’t even travel to Atlanta.

Several other players haven’t practiced this week, including Prince Amukamara, Kenny Phillips and Tyler Sash of the Giants, and William Moore of the Falcons. Nicks, Pierre-Paul, Babineaux, Samuel, and Boley have also been limited in practice, so we could see several back-ups.

Will the Falcons Remain Undefeated at Home in Week 15?

Atlanta is a perfect 6-0 at the Georgia Dome, while the NYG are 3-3 on the road with losses to the Eagles (19-17), Bengals (31-13) and Redskins (17-16). One thing that concerns me is that the Falcons have had one of the easiest SOS this season.

Bet on Giants vs. Falcons – U.S. Friendly

Wilson vs. Falcons Rush Defense

I expect Wilson to play this weekend, but Bradshaw has been ruled out. Last week Wilson played a big role in the Giants 52-27 win against the Saints, as he had 13 carries for 100 rushing yards and 2 TD’s. He also had a 97-yard kick-off return TD in the game.

The Falcons 23rd ranked rushing defense (127 RYPG) has struggled against speed and Wilson has plenty of it. If he gets 15-20 carries he should rush for 100+ yards and the Giants are likely win on this road game.

Falcons Passing Offense vs. Giants Passing Defense

The G-Men have given up a lot of yards through the air (252.8 PYPG – 27th), but they have the best TO margin in the NFC – which has gotten them out of trouble on numerous occasions. Last week the Giants had 2 INT’s and forced 2 fumbles after the catch.

Atlanta isn’t good at running the football, but they rank 4th in passing yards (289.2 PYPG). If Roddy White doesn’t suit-up, the rest of the receivers and Gonzalez will have to step up, but I think they’ll struggle against the Giants feisty defense that can force turnovers.

Nicks & Cruz vs. Falcons Secondary

Atlanta is 16th against the pass (234.9 PYPG), but they’re going to have their hands full with Nicks and Cruz, both of whom have begun to look like they’re playing with confidence. Last week these two combined for 188 receiving yards and 2 TD’s on just 12 catches.

New York Giants vs. Atlanta Falcons Betting Predictions

Bet on the Giants PK +105 at BetOnline.com

The NY Giants have a lot to lose this week whereas the Falcons can live with another loss. This game will be competitive, but ATL has just one win against a playoff team right now (Broncos, way back in week 2) and I think they’re going to lose their 1st home game of the season.

We haven’t seen a lot of movement in the Giants/Falcons betting lines since they opened, except on the over/under. I’ll be staying away from the over/under in this one because I think the current O/U of 50.5 is right where it should be. With these high powered offenses and very solid defenses, this looks like more of a gamble than a lot of other bets we can make this week.
