Giants vs. Cowboys Over/Under

In the biggest division battle of the week in the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys are hosting the New York Giants. The game will start at roughly 4:25PM EST at the Cowboys Stadium and based on the first match-up between these two we’ll be in for a great show.

The Giants are in 1st place in the NFC East with a 5-2 record while the Cowboys are down in 3rd place with a 3-3 record. We talked about the importance of this game to the Cowboys in our money line post, but in this article we want to analyze the over/under.

Dallas has an over/under record of 2-4, which includes a 1-1 O/U mark at home. The Giants have also been an under machine this season and their O/U record is sitting at 2-5. All three of the Giants’ road games this season have gone under the game total.

So far the game total has only moved a ½ point this week. The Giants vs. Cowboys over/under total opened up at 47 points and right now you can bet on O/U 47.5 points at BetOnline or Bovada. The odds are the same at both bookmakers for the total.

DAL vs. NYG Over/Under Betting Analysis

When these two played in week 1 the final score was 24-17 for Dallas. The combined 41 points wasn’t enough to send the total over (O/U 45.5). Looking back to last year these teams scored 71 pts in Dallas (Over 50.5) and 45 pts in NJ (Under 48).

Both teams come into this match-up banged up a bit. Dallas just found out that leading tackler Sean Lee is out for the season and they’ll also be without RB Murray this weekend. RB Bradshaw for the Giants should play, but isn’t near 100% this week.

I bet on the under 47.5 points and the reason being is because the total is too high. The last two games have gone under the total and I don’t see that trend changing. These two teams have also played to the under for the most part this season.

Dallas will be handing the football off to Jones and Tanner this week and they won’t be able to sustain drives. Bradshaw at less than 100% won’t be overly effective against a decent Cowboys rush defense that currently ranks 14th (105 RYPG) in the NFL.

With Bradshaw a question mark Eli will be forced to throw the football a lot. The Cowboys are great at stopping the pass and I can see the Cowboys being able to shutdown the Giants WR’s again this week like they did in week 1 of the season.

Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants Predictions

Bet on the Under 47.5 Points (-110) @ Bovada

This rivalry always produces great games, but I wouldn’t expect too much offense on Sunday. I feel we’re getting a few extra points due to public perception of these two big market teams and I’ll gladly take a shot on the U47.5 this weekend.
