Eagles vs. Cardinals Betting Lines

What: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Arizona Cardinals: Week 3 NFL Football
When: 4:05 pm EST. Sunday, September 23, 2012
Where: University of Phoenix Stadium

The Philadelphia Eagles 2-0 (0-2 ATS) and Arizona Cardinals 2-0 (2-0 ATS) are two of only six undefeated teams heading into week 3. Last week, the Eagles won 24-23 against the Ravens at home, while the Cardinals upset the Patriots 20-18 in New England.

Despite being 2-0, the Eagles have put together some of the strangest stats in recent time. If they can clean it up, they could be very tough this year. If they can’t, handicappers will continue to be on the edge of their seats.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Arizona Cardinals Betting Lines: Spread, ML & Over/Under

The Eagles vs. Cardinals point spread opened with the Eagles as -3.5 favorites. The lines are just beginning to move now, with slightly different prices to choose from. I think the public will be high on the Eagles in week 2 despite the Cardinals 2-0 record. The over/under has moved down a point from 43.5 to 42.5 points.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles are fortunate to be 2-0 heading into week 3 of the season. Philly has averaged 331.5 PYPG (2nd) and 139.5 RYPG (8th), ranking #1 on total offense. However, the team has given the football away 8 times on offense, which is the worst in the NFL.

LeSean McCoy has been busy to start the season and he’ll need to play well for the Eagles to win on Sunday. McCoy has already had 45 carries for 191 rushing yards (1 TD), and he’s tied for 3rd in receptions on the team with 8 catches for 34 yards.

The Eagles defense has been strong early on as well. They currently rank 4th against the pass (162.5 PYPG) and 15th against the run (105 RYPG).

Arizona Cardinals

Arizona has had a bend but don’t break attitude on defense, and it’s been working early on. Arizona ranks 10th against the pass (218 PYPG) and 13th against the run (102.5 RYPG), both solid numbers. Arizona has only allowed 17 PPG so far, which is 5th best in the league. The Cardinals offense has been weak, but their defense is winning them games.

The Cardinals defense has forced three turnovers and averaged 3.5 sacks per game, which is 4th best. On the other side of the ball, Arizona hasn’t been nearly as good. They rank 30th in passing (175 PYPG) and 28th in rushing (74 RYPG), which won’t cut it.

Based on local reports and the fact that Skelton didn’t practice on Wednesday, it looks like Kolb will be starting again. Arizona is going to find it hard moving the football against the Eagles, and Vick should be able to break down their defense at least enough to win the game. Straight-up, I’m taking the Eagles to win this week 3 road game.

Philly @ Arizona Point Spread

Public perception is high for the Arizona Cardinals at home. I think the Eagles will send the Cardinals back to reality this week with a solid TD+ win. The Eagles haven’t put together a great week yet, but I think that’s good. I don’t like the hook, but

I’ll bet the current Eagles point spread at -3.5 (+105) at BetOnline.com.

Eagles Point Spread

Both Bovada and BetOnline are -3.5 on the Eagles point spread. However, we can get +105 at BetOnline, and only -105 at Bovada. Obviously there’s nothing to argue about here, if you want the Eagles on the point spread, go to BetOnline.

Cardinals Point Spread

If you like the Cardinals +3.5 on the point spread, get them at -115 at Bovada instead of -125 at BetOnline.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Arizona Cardinals Money Line

The current Eagles vs. Cardinals money line is Philadelphia -170 / Arizona +150 at BetOnline. The incredibly slow Bovada has yet to post their money line for this game.

Eagles Money Line

I think the Eagles will win this SU, but you should avoid the moneyline because risking -170 on the Eagles on the road isn’t a good idea. There are better money line bets to go after this weekend.

Cardinals Money Line

Since I expect the Eagles to win this game I won’t be betting on the Cardinals money line. If you like Arizona in this one, I’d wait to see if you can get +160 or better between now & game time. +150 doesn’t look like enough value, but at +160 to +165 the Cardinals money line starts looking better.

Cardinals vs. Eagles Over/Under

The Cardinals/Eagles over/under is currently 42.5 (-110) at BetOnline and Bovada. It opened at 43.5, and has been coming down slowly since then. I like the under, but at only O/U 42.5 points it’s a no bet for me. Both defenses have been great and the Cardinals offense is just bad. I could see this game being sluggish and ending 24-17 for the Eagles, but nothing would surprise me. This one is too much of a gamble, and not enough predictability for my taste.

I won’t be betting on the Philly vs. Arizona over/under.
