Sports bettors will be watching closely when the Indianapolis Colts (1-0, 1-0 ATS) take on the Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1, 1-0 ATS) at Heinz Field. Both teams have shown an ability to put up plenty of points and this has the potential to be a legitimately exciting game.

Big Ben Looking for First Preseason Win

Ben Roethlesberger won’t be in for more than a single series in this game, though he did score on his single drive in Week 1. His backup, young Byron Leftwich should provide fans with some worthy play. Against the Eagles last week, he completed 3-6 for 93 yards and a touchdown.

It’s hard to read too much into preseason losses, but the Eagles were seriously motivated by the death of head coach Andy Reid’s son two days prior. Whether they would have been able to, or even cared to, engineer a last minute 24-23 victory otherwise is debatable. That means that if the Steelers play as well as they did in Philly, they’ve got a very good shot.

It’s also important to remember a guy like Leftwich will practically be in the Witness Protection Program when the regular season rolls around. He has just four games to put on a show for potential employers and he’s intent on making the most of it. There’s no reason why he shouldn’t put on a respectable show for the Steeler faithful on Saturday.

Andrew Luck Looks Good in Week 1 of Preseason

Andrew Luck and the Colts are motivated by a different set of circumstances than the Steelers. Everyone on the team is learning a new system under new head coach, Chuck Pagano. Pagano’s got a rookie QB on his hands, but Luck is obviously not your average rookie. He has got great game management skills, which should leave Pagano plenty of time to focus on the defense as the season rolls on.

Of course the Steelers are significantly better than the Cardinals and this will be the first time the Colts have taken their new look out on the road. Playing in Steel City on a Saturday night will be a major test for this young crew and they could find themselves in hot water.

Colts vs Steelers Week 2 Preseason Prediction

We’ll always bet against a new coach taking his program on the road for the first time, especially when they’re taking it to Heinz Field. For that reason alone Pittsburgh is the safer play in this game. We’re also not expecting to anywhere near as much scoring as last week’s games, so take the under, too.

The -190 moneyline odds on the Steelers is a bit high, but we feel safe with the -3.5 point spread as well. American bettors do have a reliable sportsbooks for wagering on the NFL; it’s called Betonline Mobile. They offer up competitive odds and are willing to take US facing action.
