Colts vs. Patriots Betting Lines

What: Indianapolis Colts vs. New England Patriots
When: 4:25pm EST. Sunday, November 18, 2012
Where: Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts

The Indianapolis Colts 6-3 (6-3 ATS) are one of the best teams against the spread this season. For week 11 they’ll be on the road against the mighty New England Patriots 6-3 (5-4 ATS) who are currently in 1st place in the AFC East.

The Colts are in 2nd in the AFC South, but they do have one of the wild card spots locked up right now. Rookie QB Andrew Luck has helped to turn this team into a contender, and I expect him to have another big game this week in Foxboro.

My Pick: Colts +10 (-110) at Bovada.lv

New England opened at -8 points and the betting lines have been on the way up since. The Patriots are now -10 point favorites, or -445 on the money line. The over/under is typically high for a Patriots game, currently at 54 or more at most mobile betting sites.

Will the Colts Cover the Spread Against the Patriots?

The Indianapolis Colts come into this game on a 4-game winning streak after knocking off The Jags 27-10 last week. Andrew Luck has helped Indy turn into a pass-first offense again, as they rank 8th in passing yards (277.9 PYPG) and 14th in rushing yards (109.4 RYPG).

Indianapolis only averages 20.7 PPG (22nd), which is a concern. The Colts have averaged 1.7 giveaways per game this season, and that’s costing them points they’ll need against teams like the Patriots. The Pats are 1st with only 0.8 giveaways per game.

It’s unlikely that Vick Ballard will gain many rushing yards against the Pats 9th ranked rushing defense (96.8 RYPG), but Luck will have success against this Patriots secondary that gives up an average of 285.3 PYPG (29th). NE gives up 22.3 PPG (16th).

Tom Brady and the Patriots offense has been on fire lately and it’s unlikely the Colts will stop them often. The Patriots have the most points scored with an average of 33.2 PPG, plus they rank 7th in passing yards (284.3 PYPG) and 5th in rushing (146 RYPG).

Stevan Ridley and Danny Woodhead have to be kept in check for the Colts to stay in this game. They’ve done well stopping the pass this season (230.2 PYPG – 15th), but they have had troubles keeping the opposing RB’s in check.

Indianapolis Colts vs. New England Patriots Predictions

Bet on the Colts +10 (-110) at Bovada.lv

The best betting line on the Colts is +10 (-110) at Bovada. If you side with the Patriots you can get them at -10 (-105) at BetOnline. My money is on the Colts, as I expect Luck to keep pace with Brady. Buffalo lost to the Pats 37-31 last week, and they barely stopped the Pats at all. I expect this game to have a similar score.
