LAC vs. LAL Moneyline PicksWe’re less than two weeks away from the NBA resuming play.

Opening night is scheduled for Thursday (July 30th) in Orlando. There are two games scheduled for the first night of action – the Pelicans play the Jazz and the Lakers play the Clippers.

This is going to be the game everyone wants to watch. The battle of LA will take place without fans in Florida, but at least the NBA is back.

Clippers vs. Lakers Betting Lines and Movement

LAC opened up as small -1.5 point favorites and they’re now -1 at Bovada. The game total opened up at 218.5 points, but has been bet down at most bookies and is now at 217.5 points at Bovada.

Bet on the NBA when the action resumes at Bovada ($250 Bonus).

Roster Moves Made By Both Teams

These two teams have been fortunate, as most players are expected to play in Orlando.

Avery Bradley is the only player that has decided to opt out (family health concerns). The Lakers signed J.R. Smith to replace Bradley for the remainder of this season.

The Clippers may be without Ivica Zubac, as he hasn’t arrived in Orlando yet. Montrezl Harrell has reportedly just left the Orlando bubble to attend to a family emergency.

However, he’ll likely have time to get back, quarantine and then get ready for the game.

LAC signed Joakim Noah and he may see extended minutes if Zubac/Harrell are out.

Landry Shamet is also dealing with a case of COVID-19 and his status remains unclear. Rajon Rondo is still out (thumb injury), but his surgery went well and he’s expected back by the playoffs.

Head-to-Head Trends for LAC and LAL

Both of these teams made a lot of changes prior to the start of the 2019-20 season.

The Lakers made a blockbuster trade for Anthony Davis, while the Clippers traded for Paul George and signed Kawhi Leonard. With that being said, let’s look at the H2H results from this season.

These teams played each other three times – here are the results:

The Clippers won the first two games, but the Lakers won prior to the postponement of the NBA and will be confident about their chances in this one. Will the long layoff have an impact?

LA Clippers at LA Lakers Predictions – Who Will Win?

LeBron James (25.7 PPG) is going to have the Lakers ready to compete. He’s coming into this bubble with one thing on his mind and that’s to win another NBA Championship.

Anthony Davis leads the team in points (26.7 PPG), rebounds (9.4 RPG), steals (1.5 SPG) and blocks (2.4 BPG). That helps take a lot of pressure off of James (10.6 APG), allowing him to dish it out.

The duo of Leonard (26.9 PPG) and George (21.0 PPG) haven’t been quite as formidle as the Lakers duo, but they’re both healthy and well-rested, which should be a combination for success.

As a team, the Lakers have scored 114.3 PPG (7th) and allowed 106.9 PPG (3rd) this season. They rank 5th in offensive efficiency (1.095). The Clippers score 116.2 PPG (4th) and allow 109.7 PPG (13th).

The Clippers rank 3rd in offensive efficiency (1.100), but they struggle on the defensive end.

One edge the Clippers will look to take advantage of is their bench depth. Lou Williams (18.7 PPG) and Harrell (18.6 PPG) are both great off the bench. LAC rank 1st in bench scoring (51.5 PPG).

However, Harrell may not be able to play now, depending upon when he gets back to Orlando. If Zubac is unable to play either, the Lakers big men will have a huge edge on Noah.

There were some initial concerns that Dwight Howard (7.5 PPG and 7.4 RPG) was going to opt out, but he has decided to suit up. Davis, Howard, JaVale McGee and Kyle Kuzma will dominate the glass.

Clippers at Lakers Game Total Prediction

While the total is a little high, these are two of the highest scoring teams in the NBA.

The Clippers have had some struggles on the defensive end as well. None of the three head-to-head games have gone over 217.5 points this season, but they were close (214, 217 and 215).

I also expect both teams to put on a show, as it’s opening night for the NBA’s return.

What would be better than an offensive shootout between the Lakers and Clippers on ESPN?
