Christmas Day NBA Basketball Betting

Posted: November 30, 2011

Now that the NBA lockout appears to be over, the league is hoping to schedule the first games of the 2011 – 2012 season for Christmas Day. The cynic in me wants to give a sarcastic “thanks for the Christmas present” to the NBA, while the basketball lover in me wants to say “thanks for the Christmas present”!

At the time this article is being written, the Christmas Day NBA schedule has yet to be announced. However, we know that they’re planning on a 66 game regular season, with a shortened free agent signing period and preseason schedule. Once the team owners have officially approved the labor deal and proposed regular season schedule, the final schedule should be released. This is expected to happen on Dec. 4th or 5th.

When the 2011 Christmas Day NBA schedule is released, we’ll post it here, with the latest betting lines from our favorite mobile betting sites. Since it’s a slow process to register and fund a sportsbook account from a mobile device, we recommend doing this on your computer first. For bettors located in the US, the best mobile sportsbooks are BetOnline.com and Bodog.com.

For now, what is most important for bettors is to pay attention to trades and free agent signings. Also, keep in mind that big free agent signings don’t always translate into immediate wins (as the Miami Heat will tell you). With this in mind, and the fact that Christmas Day NBA games will get massive betting volume from excited fans, we’re likely to find value on underdog point spreads. I’ll be looking for value betting against favorites, especially if they’ve recently signed a big-name free agent or made a big trade.

2011 Christmas Day NBA Basketball Betting Tips

For Christmas Day NBA betting, I’m going to look to bet late, a few hours before game-time, after casual bettors have moved the lines but before the big money comes in. I’ll be looking for teams that have the same (or close to) starting 5 they had last season, against teams who are starting new, impact players.

Once we know the actual Christmas Day schedule, we’ll post it here with predictions for the point spread, money line, and over/under for the best games. We’ll also show you which mobile NBA betting sites have the best lines, with additional discussion about the biggest trades and how they should impact the games. Stay tuned, NBA basketball is almost here!
