The Kansas City Chiefs will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV next Sunday.
You honestly can’t script this stuff. Tom Brady leaves New England to move south and he gets the Buccaneers into the Super Bowl for the first time since winning SB XXXVII back in 2003.
That was when the Bucs had guys like Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks and Ronde Barber on defense.
The Chiefs won last year’s Super Bowl against the 49ers (31-20) and are back. We haven’t seen any team repeat as Super Bowl champs since the Patriots won back-to-back titles in 2004 and 2005.
Oddly enough, Brady has won the last three Super Bowls played in odd years (2015, 2017 and 2019).

Odds to Win the 2021 NFL Super Bowl
KC opened up as a -3.5 point favorite and have been bet down to a FG (-3). The Chiefs are taking in about 65% of the total ATS bets, but the amount of money bet has been split much more evenly.
The Chiefs are paying -165 (Bet $165 to Win $100 Profit) to win the Super Bowl, while the Buccaneers are paying +145 (Bet $100 to Win $145 Profit) to upset KC next Sunday in the big game.
Three Reasons the Chiefs Will Win the Super Bowl
Here are three reasons the Chiefs will win Super Bowl LV:
- Confidence: KC went into Tampa in week 12 and won a tight game (27-24). Mahomes went 37/49 for a season-high 462 passing yards and 3 TDs in the win. Brady went 27/41 for 345 yards, 3 TDs and 2 INTs in the loss. The Chiefs have the confidence/momentum edge.
- Tyreek Hill: In the regular season H2H game, Hill embarrassed the Bucs secondary. Hill finished the game with 13 receptions for 269 yards and 3 TDs.
You know who also played in the first H2H game? Sammy Watkins and he’s expected to play in the Super Bowl after missing the Chiefs’ first two playoff games. That’s one more threat to worry about.
- Exploit the Buccaneers Secondary: TB have some injury concerns in the secondary and it’s not like they were great this season, as they allowed 249.4 PYPG (21st). The Chiefs ranked #1 in passing yards (305.2 PYPG) and #2 in passing yards per attempt (7.8) this season.
Three Reasons the Buccaneers Will Win the Super Bowl
Here are three reasons the Buccaneers will win Super Bowl LV:
- Tom Brady: Brady will be making his NFL record tenth Super Bowl start. He has won six SB titles, which is also more than anyone else. In nine Super Bowl appearances, Brady has thrown for 2838 yards, 18 TDs and 6 INTs. He can solidify his GOAT status with a win.
- Pressure Upfront: Andy Reid will do what he can to stifle the Bucs defensive line. He’ll have guys moving in motion on most plays. TB have done a great job getting to the QB (2.9 SPG – 5th) and they also rank #1 in rushing yards allowed (81.4 RYPG).
- Running the Football: In three playoff games, the Bucs have rushed the football 29 times for 141 yards (1 TD), 35 times for 127 yards (1 TD) and 24 times for 76 yards (1 TD).
Leonard Fournette has been doing a great job running the football. The Chiefs come into this game allowing an average of 121.9 RYPG (19th). Ronald Jones II is also contributing now that he’s playing.
Super Bowl 55 Prediction – Who Will Win?
I won’t be passing up the value on the Bucs getting plus money to win the Super Bowl.
The Bucs have done well as an underdog. They’re 4-0 ATS the last four times they’ve been a dog and the underdog has gone 4-1 ATS in the last five H2H meetings between these two teams.
KC might get out to an early lead, but it’s a long game and Brady will find a way to work some magic. He has a huge number of weapons on offense, which is going to make it tough to stop him.
We’re going to see Mahomes and the Chiefs in the playoffs a lot more over the next decade I’m sure, but Brady will find a way to beat the youngster and solidify his status as the GOAT QB.
Being at home will also give an extra edge to the Bucs.
