Browns vs. Ravens Betting Lines

What: Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens: Week 4 Thursday Night Football
When: 8:20 pm EST. Thursday, September 27, 2012
Where: M&T Bank Stadium

The Cleveland Browns 0-3 (1-1-1 ATS) have yet to win a game in 2012, and that’s unlikely to change on Thursday night when they go on the road to play the Baltimore Ravens 2-1 (2-1 ATS). Baltimore is already 2-0 at home and should make it 3-0 on TNF.

Browns vs. Ravens Point Spread, Money Line & Over/Under

Baltimore opened as a -13 point favorite at home against Cleveland. Action has come in on the Ravens, but the point spread has dropped to -11.5 at BetOnline. The over/under opened at 45 points, and has come down to 44 at the time this article is being written.

Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns have struggled on both sides of the football in the first three weeks. The team is ranked 26th in total yards on offense (296.3 YPG), and turnovers have also been a big problem for them (2.3 TO per game – 29th in NFL).

Last week against the Bills, Brandon Weeden completed just 27/43 passes for 237 yards, 1 TD and 2 INT’s. After a solid week 2 performance rookie Trent Richardson also struggled against the Bills, as he rushed for 27 yards and 1 TD on 12 carries.

Defensively the Browns have been poor, ranking 27th against the pass (269 PYPG) and 23rd against the run (122.7 RYPG). The team has stayed in games this year due to their defense averaging 2.3 TO’s per game (6th) and 3.0 sacks per game (7th).

Baltimore Ravens

The well-oiled Baltimore Ravens defense is definitely missing Terrell Suggs this season. Baltimore has allowed 401.3 YPG (27th) up to this point defensively, but they’ve still been able to accumulate 2 TO’s per game (10th) and 2.7 sacks per game (9th).

The pass rush hasn’t been what we’re used to, but it hasn’t hurt the Ravens too much yet. Baltimore won 31-30 against the Pats on Sunday night after a last second FG was hit by Tucker. QB Joe Flacco had a solid game minus 1 INT, but the big story was WR Smith.

Torrey caught 6 passes for 127 yards and 2 TD’s against the Pats in a game he wasn’t expected to play in. Ray Rice rushed the ball 20 times for 101 rushing yards and 1 TD. The Ravens always seem to do better when they don’t abandon the run game.

Browns/Ravens Point Spread

Last season the Ravens beat the Browns in both meetings, but they didn’t blow them out in either game. I like the Cleveland Browns +13 (-115) at Bovada, as I expect lots of running in this game from both teams. Rice is always solid and I expect Richardson will have a bounce back performance this week on primetime television.

Browns Point Spread

If you like the Browns and the points, pay the extra nickel for 1.5 points at Bovada. Instead of +11.5 (-110) at BetOnline, why not take take +13 for just a nickel more?

Out pick for this game is Brown +13 (-115) at Bovada.lv.

Ravens Point Spread

The best Ravens point spread is -11.5 (-110) at BetOnline. At Bovada, the Ravens have to cover an extra 1.5 points, and we’re only saving a nickel – not worth it.

Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens Money Line

The latest money line has the Browns (+475) listed as a huge underdog against the Ravens (-605). Betting on the Ravens at these odds would be silly due to the miniscule return. I also don’t advise a money line bet on the Browns, as it’s hard to imagine them beating the Ravens on the road.

Browns Money Line

It’s highly unlikely the Browns can win this game SU, so we recommend staying away from this bet. No value here.

Ravens Money Line

Although we do expect the Ravens to win this game, -605 on the money line isn’t offering much value. Too much risk for too little reward.

Baltimore vs. Browns Over/Under

The current Ravens vs. Browns over/under is 44 points at BetOnline and Bovada, which is down from the opening of 45 points. I’m going to watch this total, as I’m betting the over, but I think I can get a better number if I wait. Baltimore has averaged 32.7 PPG (2nd) and their defense hasn’t been as strong this season. I expect this game to have 50+ points on Thursday night.
