49’ers vs. Broncos Preseason Lines

Rookie players on the Denver Broncos (1-1, 1-1 ATS) and San Francisco 49ers (1-1, 1-1 ATS) have one last chance to impress their coaches this week before the teams start trimming down their rosters. That means NFL preseason bettors can expect a high energy game full of big hits and some very aggressive defense from both teams.

Experienced point spread bettors know that shopping for lines can give them a big edge in both preseason and regular season NFL betting. To keep up with line movement and lineup changes, they rely on iPhone sports betting apps from their favorite online sportsbooks.

Handicapping the Broncos Preseason Week 3 Chances

Peyton Manning is, by all accounts, still shaking off the rust from his season away from the game. In last week’s 30-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks (2-0, 2-0 ATS), he completed 16-23 for 177 yards and two interceptions. That’s not bad for the limited amount of action he saw, but plenty of Denver fans are freaking out over the interceptions. Manning is very sensitive to the fans, so expect to see a more dramatic performance from him tonight.

On the ground, the Broncos were not very impressive either. They had only 38 rushing yards, though their sole touchdown was a 1-yd Willis McGahee run. Deciphering the preseason is tough. Were they really that bad? Or just holding back?

Defensively, the Broncos didn’t put on the greatest performance against the Seahawks. They gave up 228 yards on the ground and had only two sacks. After an utterly forgettable performance like this, we’re expecting to see a much more dynamic defensive effort from the Broncos against the low-scoring, preseason, 49ers.

Assessing the San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco’s defense was the core of their success last season and, judging by the low scores of their preseason games it looks like the defense will need to step up again in 2012. Looking at the low scores from SF’s two games against moderate opponents, Houston (2-0, 2-0 ATS) and Minnesota (1-1, 1-1 ATS), we can expect more of the same. In those two outings their opponents scored a total of 26 points. That’s pretty good in a preseason where the over is 20-14-2.

Offensively, the Niners haven’t done much this preseason. We’ll chalk that up to Jim Harbaugh’s interest in holding his offensive cards close to the vest. That said, we know from last season that the Niner defense kept them in plenty of low scoring games. For that reason, the under 40.5 points is the play we’re recommending for this game. With starters playing the 1st half only generally in preseason you may want to bet in-play on the under for the 2nd half of the game only.

49ers vs Broncos Pick

Week 3 of the preseason is when teams start picking up the pace and starters begin really shaking of the rust (no matter how they acquired it). There’s no reason to think that the Denver offense won’t be putting on a show for their home fans, but that 49er defense should keep things close and low scoring. Take Denver and under, and think of the under as the safer play.

With only a limited number of online sportsbooks willing to take their action, American NFL bettors have to choose their partners wisely. For that reason, Betonline Mobile is our best recommendation as a safe, reliable place for preseason and regular season NFL betting.
