March Madness Regional Tournaments PredictionsSelection Sunday for the 2021 NCAA basketball tournament was yesterday.

The four #1 seeds are Michigan (East), Illinois (Midwest), Baylor (South) and Gonzaga (West). The Zags are odds-on to win the West Region and paying slightly over 2/1 to win the big dance.

Now that the March Madness bracket is filled in, we’re going to discuss who’ll win each region.

**NOTE**: In my last article, I bet on Alabama (+400), West Virginia (+450) and San Diego State (+1600) to make the Final Four. Bama has a great shot in the East, but unfortunately for me, WVU and SDSU are both in the Midwest Region. With that being said, we’ll focus more on the South/West Regions.

2021 March Madness East Region Winner Picks

As mentioned above, I already have a bet on Bama (+400) to make the Final Four. Despite having a reasonable path to the Final Four, the odds on Bama are still 4/1 to win the East.

I really like Bama in the East now that the bracket has been filled in. #1 Michigan (20-4) finished first in the Big Ten, but they lost in the semifinals of the conference tourney against OSU (68-67).

The Wolverines are only 3-5 in their last eight games now, so confidence is likely low.

If these teams end up meeting in the Elite Eight, Michigan will have an offensive edge, but Bama has the edge defensively. One thing’s for sure, Bama needs to hit their three-pointers.

They rank second in the nation in three-pointers made (10.7), but only #103 in three-point shooting percentage (35.1%). Michigan averages 7.5 3PM (139th), but rank #12 in 3P% (38.7%).

2021 March Madness Midwest Region Winner Picks

I have bets on West Virginia and San Diego State to win the Midwest, which I made last week. If you want to read my analysis on why I bet those two teams, please read my previous article.

Illinois is the top seed in the Midwest after winning the Big Ten conference tourney in OT against OSU (91-88). Illinois are one of the highest scoring teams in the nation (81.4 PPG – 11th).

Houston are #2 in the Midwest after cruising to an AAC tourney championship. This region also features Loyola-Chicago, a team a lot of handicappers are hyping as this year’s Cinderella team.

2021 March Madness South Region Winner Picks

I’m backing the favorite in the South. Baylor (22-2) is a top contender to win the tournament.

Sure, they’re coming off a loss in the Big 12 conference tournament title game against OSU (83-74), but they’ll be able to get back on track with an easy opening round game against Hartford.

Ohio State (+450) pose the biggest threat, as they’re heating up at the right time, but Baylor should run through this region. They rank #1 in 3P% (41.8%) and #13 in offensive rebounds (11.3).

If the deep ball isn’t going in, they have size in the paint to generate a lot of second chances.

The Bears rank third in adjusted offensive efficiency as well (124.0). The South Region is considered to be the deepest and while we’ll see some upsets, Baylor is a step above the competition.

2021 March Madness West Region Winner Picks

I won’t be betting on the West Region winner and the reasoning is simple. Gonzaga (26-0) haven’t lost a single game this season, but they’re priced at -225 to win the West Region.

I’m not laying -225 on any team, especially one that hasn’t been tested in a long time.

The Zags have big wins early in the season against Kansas and Iowa, but this team may become complacent in the tournament. Iowa and Virginia are both tough teams.

Do I think Gonzaga loses the region? No. At the same time, this will be a no bet.

I’ll be providing my best bets for every round of the tourney, so come back soon!
