UCL Quarterfinals PreviewsThe Champions League is running things differently this year because of COVID-19.

We’re down to the final eight teams and the quarterfinals will be played this week in Lisbon, Portugal – with matches being played at the Estadio da Luz and Estadio Jose Alvalade.

One major difference this year is that the remaining ties will all be one leg only.

The UEFA Champions League final is scheduled to be played on Sunday, August 23rd 2020.

We’re going to have some excellent upcoming matches over the next twelve days.

Today, we’re going to analyze the four Champions League quarterfinal matches and share my best bets from these matches. You can bet on all of the upcoming action at Bovada.

Atalanta vs. PSG Predictions

PSG (6-1-1) have a relatively easy match-up against the inexperienced Atalanta (4-1-3). Atalanta made their Champions League debut this season and nobody expected them to advance.

Not only did they advance past the group stage, but they eliminated Valencia in the Round of 16 (8-4 aggregate) – winning 4-1 at home and then winning a high-scoring match (4-3) away.

These two teams are both potent upfront. PSG led Ligue 1 in goals (75) and Atalanta led Serie A (98), so we’re likely going to see both teams score a goal in the first quarterfinal match on Tuesday.

Kylian Mbappe could feature for PSG after recovering from injury much quicker than expected.

With six clean sheets already in eight UCL matches, PSG should easily advance to the semifinals.

RB Leipzig vs. Atletico Madrid Predictions

When: Thursday, August 13th 2020 at 3:00PM ET

RB Leipzig (5-2-1) have never made the knockout stage of the Champions League prior to this year – they only made the UCL one previous year (2017-18) and they were eliminated during group play.

I’m surprised we’re getting +140 on Atletico in the 1×2 market. Sure, Atletico have struggled a bit this season, but they’ve been in good form, going undefeated in their last six matches (3-3-0).

I don’t know what to expect out of Leipzig, as Timo Werner has completed a transfer to Chelsea and he’s the team’s leading scorer by far with 28 goals in league play and four UCL goals.

Atletico Madrid are 3-0-0 against German teams in the UCL knockout rounds. After allowing seven goals in eight UCL matches, Leipzig will find it tough generating chances on Atletico.

Barcelona vs. Bayern Munchen Predictions

When: Friday, August 14th 2020 at 3:00PM ET

This is the Champions League quarterfinal everyone will want to watch on Friday.

Barcelona (5-3-0) and Bayern Munchen (8-0-0) are both undefeated in UCL play this year. Bayern are the only team that have won every match, though, as they have a perfect 8-0-0 record.

After a 1-1 draw against Napoli in the Round of 16 1st leg, Barcelona woke up in the 2nd leg and were able to quickly put the Italian side away with three 1H goals. They advanced with a 4-2 aggregate.

Bayern are playing better than anyone else right now. Robert Lewandowski is arguably the #1 player in football right now. He has 34 goals in league play this season and 13 goals in UCL play.

Here’s an interesting trend. These teams have faced each other in the UCL knockout stages three times since 2009 and the team that won the 2-leg tie ended up going on to win the UCL title.

With Barca struggling in Champions League action in recent years – they have been knocked out of the competition in the quarterfinals in four of the past five years — I’m betting on Bayern to win.

Manchester City vs. Lyon Predictions

When: Saturday, August 15th 2020 at 3:00PM ET

This match is expected to be the most lopsided out of the four quarterfinals.

Manchester City (6-2-0) are undefeated and will play a struggling Lyon (3-2-3) team. Lyon are 3-0-3 in their last six matches. They lost their last match against Juventus (2-1) in the Round of 16 2nd leg.

Thankfully for the French side, they won 1-0 at home, so the away goal secured advancement.

Unless Memphis Depay, who has six UCL goals, can pull off a miracle performance on Friday, Lyon are likely going to be crushed by City. City are on a 5-0-1 run with three clean sheets.

Scoring hasn’t been a problem for City either, as they’ve scored 18 goals in their last six matches.

Sergio Aguero is expected to miss this match, but he could be fit enough to play in future matches if City can advance. They’ll rely on Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus (both have six UCL goals this campaign) to continue producing. Both scored in the 2-1 win against Real Madrid last Friday.
