2015/16 NBA Conference Futures Gambling Odds and Best Bets

Bet on the 2016 NBA season.WE’RE about a week into the NBA regular season and most teams have played three games, but it’s still early enough to find value in the 2015-16 NBA Eastern and Western conference futures betting markets.

The Western conference is always wide open, but the Eastern conference is expected to be dominated by the Cleveland Cavaliers, although I don’t agree with the sportsbooks opinion in this case.

2016 NBA Eastern Conference Futures Winner Predictions

First, let’s take a look at the odds to win the Eastern conference in 2016.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are odds-in to repeat as Eastern conference champions, but are they worth betting at these odds? My opinion is no – at the very worst you’ll get similar odds by waiting until the NBA playoffs.

I also wouldn’t trust the Cavs remaining healthy, which was what cost them in the 2015 NBA finals.

Kyrie Irving is already on the shelf until December and Lebron James has a known back injury that could cause him to miss time. With all of the inherent risks, I would avoid wagering on Cavaliers futures bets.

The Atlanta Hawks and Chicago Bulls are the two teams that will provide competition in the East.

You have to love the Bulls front court, which features Nikola Mirotic and Pau Gasol as starters, plus Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson coming off the bench. Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler provide a formidable backcourt too.

Just like the Cavs, the biggest concern is health for the Bulls, especially Rose.

Atlanta have the talent and depth to win the East if the Cavs are banged up as well. Jeff Teague, Paul Millsap and Al Horford are one of the best starting trios in the NBA, plus the Hawks have one of the best benches.

The best value bet right now would be the Detroit Pistons in the East. Detroit needs Andre Drummond to step up and takeover as the #1 option on the Pistons, but he has some talent around him.

Reggie Jackson, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Marcus Morris have all opened the season well.

If the Pistons can finish in the top four in the East, they’ll have a great first round playoff match-up. If they can get through the first series, we’ll be able to start hedging to guarantee a profit.

2016 NBA Western Conference Futures Winner Predictions

Here are the odds to win the Western Conference this season.

The West is much more wide open, as a number of teams could run through the playoffs if they’re healthy and clicking at that point next year. The Warriors, Spurs, Thunder and Clippers are all paying 5/1 odds or less.

I can’t see past the Warriors in the West, especially after watching them open the season.

Many of the Warriors games this season will be blowouts where the starters are out by the 4th quarter. This team is exceptionally strong and based on what I’ve seen, Stephen Curry has taken another step forward.

Klay Thompson and Draymond Green do a little bit of everything on the court, while Andrew Bogut provides a big bruising body to clog up the paint. Golden State are scoring for fun and that’ll continue in the playoffs.

What are teams in the Western conference that could knock off the Warriors in the playoffs?

The two most intriguing teams are the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers – both teams went out and made a splash in the free agent market. The Spurs were able to sign LaMarcus Aldridge to start at PF.

Tim Duncan will start at center most nights, while Kawhi Leonard, Tony Parker and Danny Green will round out the starting rotation. David West and Manu Ginobli provide veteran leadership off of the bench.

This team has a veteran crew that won’t be intimidated by anyone, but can they hang with the younger Warriors teams after a long regular season? I wouldn’t count on that happening.

My bet in the West right now is on the Clippers, as I expect the odds on them to steam in.

Blake Griffin, Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan are all superstars and help in different areas. I was impressed by the signings of Paul Pierce, Josh Smith, Wesley Johnson and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute this off-season.

The Hawks have the best depth in the East, while I believe the Clippers are the deepest team in the West.
