THE Washington Wizards 34-26 (24-35-1 ATS) and Chicago Bulls 37-23 (27-34 ATS) are both going to make the NBA playoffs, but who will win this big match-up on Tuesday night? Based on how these teams are playing – the Bulls will be expected to win at home.

Chicago lost to the Clippers (96-86) on Sunday night, but they’re 7-3 in their last ten games. The Bulls lead the Central division and are 3rd overall in the East. What’s concerning is that the Bulls are banged up and have limited depth on the bench.

The Wizards are 3-7 in their last ten games, but they snapped a six-game losing streak with a win over Detroit (99-95). Bradley Beal was back from injury against the Pistons. Washington are 5th in the East, but they won’t finish better than 4th place at best.

We don’t have too many games on the NBA schedule for Tuesday, but there’s still a lot to bet on.

Betting lines for WAS vs. CHI will be out on Monday afternoon and I’ll update the article at that point.

Chicago is playing better basketball and will be at home, but they’re also banged up, especially compared to the Wizards. With that being said, the Bulls are going to open up as the favorites, but it won’t be by much. The total will likely open around 190 points.

Stats pack

On paper, Chicago is clearly the better team. The Bulls score more points, grab more rebounds, plus have a nice edge in turnovers and blocks. The only question is whether Chicago can maintain these numbers while dealing with multiple injuries.

Projected starting line-ups

Taj Gibson is doubtful for the Bulls – giving Nikola Mirotic a bigger role off the bench. Jimmy Butler is having an MRI on Monday and is considered questionable until those test results are known. Kris Humphries is the only questionable player for Washington.

Can Gasol lead Chicago to a win against Washington?

Chicago haven’t been good when playing at the United Center, as they’re just 18-13 at home. They have a better record on the road, but that has to change if the Bulls want to make a run in the playoffs, especially considering they have home court locked up.

Lucky for Chicago, the Wizards are bad on the road. Washington are below .500 on the road (13-16). You normally don’t see huge home/away splits in the NBA, but certain teams, like the Wizards, can never seem to find their form when not on their court.

The Bulls need Butler in the line-up to beat a healthy Wizards team. If Butler doesn’t play this game could get ugly. The Wizards have strong interior defense and they protect the paint well. Gasol and Noah are going to have a tough time to get rolling.

Chicago have been poor all season at defending the paint as well. Gortat has stepped up his play in recent games and that trend will continue. The battle of the guards isn’t even close. Wall will likely out produce Brooks and Snell combined.

Mirotic is playing great basketball lately as long as he’s getting minutes. Mirotic had 29 points, 9 rebounds and 1 block against LAC on Sunday off the bench in 31 minutes. The problem is that he’s the only player producing off the bench right now.

Kirk Hinrich is terrible and for some reason the Bulls play with a really short bench most nights. Washington turned a corner with a win over the Pistons. The Wizards are healthy again, the schedule is easing up and I expect them to win the next four games.

Bulls vs. Wizards picks

Washington holds a 2-1 lead in the H2H series this season. Chicago won the first meeting on the road in December, but the Wizards have bounced back with two wins – one on the road and one at home.

The fact that the Wizards have beaten the Bulls in Chicago already is a big factor. That, plus the fact Washington snapped their losing streak, are two reasons I’m betting on the Wizards to cover the spread.

I expect the public to jump on the Bulls, especially if Butler is questionable. Wall and Gortat are both playing great and it’s only a matter of time before Beal becomes comfortable again and starts producing.

If the Wizards do in fact open up as an underdog I’m likely going to bet a ½ unit on the money line too.
