Where to Bet Seahawks vs. Redskins

When: 4:30pm ET. Sunday, January 6th 2013
Where: FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland

The Washington Redskins 10-6 (11-5 ATS) needed a win in week 17 against the Cowboys and they beat them 28-18. The Redskins were 5-1 in the division this season with two rookies (RGIII & Alfred Morris) leading the way on offense.

The Seattle Seahawks 11-5 (11-5 ATS) had a better record than the Redskins but they didn’t win their division, and that’s why they play on the road against the Redskins. Seattle ended the season 5-0 and outscored their opponents 193-60 during that stretch.

Where to Bet on Seahawks vs. Redskins NFC Wild Card

We’ve seen a lot of line movement in this game. The game opened up as a PK, but the Seahawks are now favored by -3 (+110) at JustBet. The Seahawks vs. Redskins over/under opened at 46 points and it hasn’t budged since. If you’re looking for a tip on where to bet the over/under, choose your favorite betting site – it’s 46 everywhere right now. If you don’t have an account, we recommend BetOnline and JustBet.

SEA vs. WAS Basic Stats

Redskins vs. Seahawks Game & Betting Analysis

Both of these teams run their offense through rookies that have exceeded expectations. Robert Griffin III threw for 3200 yards (20 TD’s) and was also the 2nd leading rusher on the team with 815 yards (7 TD’s). He also had just 5 INT’s on the season.

Redskins rookie RB Alfred Morris rushed for 1613 yards, which was 2nd best in the NFL behind AP. Morris had a total of 13 rushing TD’s as well. Morris has to run the football well to take some of the pressure off of RGIII.

Seattle signed Flynn in the off-season to a big contract, but they went with Russell Wilson instead. Wilson ended up completing 64.1% of his passes for 3118 passing yards, 26 TD’s and just 10 INT’s. He also rushed the football for 489 rushing yards and 4 TD’s.

Despite having Wilson at QB the offense is focused on the run game. RB Marshawn Lynch put up 1590 rushing yards, which was good for 3rd best in the NFL, right behind Morris. Lynch also added 11 rushing TD’s and 1 TD in the pass game.

We have the #1 rushing team Redskins (169.3 RYPG) against the #3 rushing team Seahawks (161.2 RYPG) in this game. I expect it to be tough to run the football due to the Redskins ranking 5th (95.8 RYPG) and the Seahawks 10th (103.1 RYPG) against the run.

Key Performers

I’ve mentioned some of the stars to watch out for already, but I also want to take a look at a few of the other players that could have an impact on this game. Both teams bring lots of playmakers to the table in this NFC Wild Card matchup.

Pierre Garcon only played in 10 regular season games this year due to injury, but he was still 2nd on the team with 44 receptions. He also led the team in receiving yards with 633. Garcon had just 4 TD’s, but he’s a threat down the field on every play due to his speed.

Seattle has two threatening WR’s that finished with nearly the same stat lines this season. Rice finished the year with 50 catches for 748 receiving yards while Tate had 45 receptions for 688 yards. Both WR’s also had 7 TD’s this season to lead the team.

Washington ranked 30th at stopping the pass this season and gave up 281.9 PYPG on average. Rice and Tate both need to step up and get open in this game for Wilson. These two have dealt with consistency problems, but I expect Rice to have a big game.

London Fletcher is the leader on this Redskins defense and he needs to play well if Washington wants a shot at winning. Fletcher leads the defense in total tackles (78), combined tackles (139) and interceptions (5) this year. He also has added 3 sacks this season.

Two of the standouts on defense for Seattle this year were Clemons and Sherman. Making RGIII uncomfortable in this game is vital because once he gets settled down he’s great. Clemons leads Seattle with 11.5 sacks and needs to get pressure on the QB.

If Clemons and the rest of the D-line can get pressure on RGIII he’ll make mistakes. Sherman has been capitalizing on mistakes by the opposing QB’s all year long and he leads the Seahawks defense with 8 INT’s on the year.

Bet on Seattle Seahawks vs. Washington Redskins

This game opened as a PK and that line would have been much better obviously. However, I still like the Seahawks at -3 (+110). They have to play on the road where they went just 3-5, but they’re the stronger team and I expect Pete Carroll to have his players ready.

Since the Seahawks vs. Redskins over/under is the same at almost all of the U.S. friendly sportsbooks, it doesn’t matter where you bet it (as long as it’s a reputable site). If you’re betting the Redskins in this game, the best odds are at BetOnline.com, so you might as well make your over/under bet there as well. If you’re taking my Seattle recommendation, go to JustBet instead.
