Week 10 O/U Lines for Atlanta Falcons vs Philadelphia Eagles

Who: Atlanta Falcons (6-3) at Philadelphia Eagles (4-4)

When: Sunday, November 13, 2016. 1:00 PM EST

Where: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Over/Under: 55.5 at the Bovada Sportsbook

The Atlanta Falcons will travel to Lincoln Financial Field Sunday to take on the Philadelphia Eagles. This will mark the 33rd time the two teams will face off against each other, dating back to their first game on September 18, 1966. The Eagles lead the series 17-14-1.

This Year Philadelphia started off strong, going undefeated in their first three games. Through those games the Eagles outscored their opponents 92-27. They would go 1-4 through their next five games, including losses to their division rivals the Redskins, Cowboys, and Giants respectively. Through these five games, the Eagles have been outscored by opponents 118-110.

Matt Ryan opened up the 2016 season with a solid performance going 27 for 39 for 334 yards and two touchdowns. The Falcons would lose to division rivals, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, thanks to four touchdown passes by Jameis Winston. The loss in the season opener seemed to just ignite a flame inside the Falcons. Over the next four games, Ryan lit up the stats going 89 for 129 with 10 touchdowns and two picks, throwing for 1,406 yards.

The Falcons have won six of their first nine games, and look to continue to roll behind “Matty Ice” and Julio Jones.

A Productive Run Game is Key for Atlanta Success

Atlanta has relied heavily on the arm of Matt Ryan this year. The run game has done its job when needed for the most part, but it has been “Matty Ice” that has dictated the way Atlanta has played so far this season.

Devonta Freeman has been productive, rushing for 620 yards and three touchdowns on 133 carries, but he is behind in his stats from last year. At this point last year he tallied 721 yards on 164 carries and reached the end zone nine times for the Falcons.

Freeman is key to Matt Ryan being able to dominate his opponents through the air week after week. You have to wonder how long the Falcons can continue to produce in the passing game with a par-at-best rushing core.

Philadelphia Defense Needs to Stop the Pass

Philly comes into week 10 allowing just over 218 passing yards per game to opposing quarterbacks, and 107 rushing yards per game to opposing backs. They are ranked number 15 in the league against the run, while they sit at number 27 in the power ranks against the pass. They are only allowing 18 points per game against their defense, but they are vulnerable to both the pass and rush at any moment.

What was a solid defense to begin the season, of late has been exposed as being nothing more than average. The Eagles are going up against pass-heavy offense that is ranked first in the NFL in scoring with 33.9 points per game, and second in passing with 315 yards per game.

Why I’m Taking the Under on the Falcons vs Eagles

With Bennie Logan returning to the Eagles front four after being sidelined for the past month, you can look to the fourth year Defensive Tackle to bring a spark back to the Eagles line. Cornerback Leodis McKelvin was a full participant in Wednesdays practice as well, and looks to be ready to go Sunday.

Tight End Jacob Tamme will not play Sunday for the Falcons, and CB Desmond Trufant and RB Tevin Colman are listed as day to day for them as well. In the first 32 matchups between these two teams there were only two games that totaled over 55 points, making it feel even more unlikely that this game will go over.

Look for both teams to utilize the clock to their advantage, and this to be more of a ground and pound type game. Although Atlanta has been lighting up the scoreboard the past few weeks, I don’t see this continuing in week 10. Take the under for this game at 55.5 at the Bovada Sportsbook as neither team will put up more than 28 points . This will come down to what defense can come up with the bigger stops, and which team will allow the other to exploit their flaws.
