Ravens vs. Redskins Betting Lines

Baltimore Ravens vs. Washington Redskins

When: 1:00pm ET. Sunday, December 9, 2012
Where: FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland

The Baltimore Ravens 9-3 (5-6-1 ATS) were unable to lock up the AFC North last week, but they’ll have another chance this week on the road against the Washington Redskins 6-6 (7-5 ATS). However, for that to happen both the Steelers and Bengals would need to lose.

Washington won an extremely close game against the Giants last week (17-16) and now the NFC East is tight again. Due to both defenses playing poorly (and somewhat beat-up), I expect this to be a high scoring affair.

Injury Reports

The Ravens Terrell Suggs is going to be a game time decision it appears. Fletcher, Williams and Hall of the Redskins have all missed practice this week, but will be playing against Baltimore. Cedric Griffin was suspended by WAS and won’t play. WR Pierre Garcon has had full participation in practice this week and is listed as probable.

Ravens Rush Defense vs. Redskins Rush Offense

Baltimore ranks 23rd against the rush (125.8 RYPG) and will have their hands full this week (more so if Suggs is out). Washington is still the #1 rushing team in the NFL (167.2 RYPG) due to RGIII and Morris. Can the Redskins continue their rushing dominance?

The last two weeks Alfred Morris has rushed for 113 yards (@ Dallas) and 124 yards (vs. Giants). Morris has seen increased yards in the rushing game because WR Pierre Garcon is back in the line-up and has made the passing game a threat again.

Joe Flacco vs. Redskins Pass Defense

Last week Joe Flacco was up against the Steelers #1 passing defense and he went 16/34 for 188 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. He was part of the reason the Ravens lost last week and he’ll need to play much better against the Redskins (299 PYPG Allowed – 31st).

The key to Flacco having success is the Ravens O-line protecting him and giving him enough time to scan his reads. Last week he was only sacked 3 times, but he was hurried a lot. WAS ranks 26th with 1.8 sacks per game and shouldn’t pressure Flacco much.

Ray Rice vs. Redskins Rush Defense

Ray Rice only had 12 carries for 78 rushing yards last week (1 TD) including one run for 34 yards. The Steelers shut him down and he didn’t get enough carries. Washington is great at stopping the run (91.5 RYPG – 4th), but Rice needs 15+ carries this week.

Ravens vs. Redskins Over/Under

Bet Over 47.5 (-110) at BetOnline.com

This game could go either way on Sunday, as both teams are going to be hungry for the win. Washington is on a 3-game win streak while the Ravens are fresh off of a 23-20 home loss to the Steelers where they allowed Charlie Batch to throw for 276 yards.

Washington’s offense is finally hitting their stride and the Ravens offense has enough talent, but in my opinion lacks a consistent QB. Neither defense has been particularly good as of late, and the over is looking good to me.

I predict a high scoring game in the range of 30-24 up to 35-31, but it could go either way against the spread. This is one of my favorite bets for week 14, take the over.
