Ravens vs. Eagles Betting Lines

What: Baltimore Ravens vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Week 2 NFL Football
When: 1:00 pm EST. Sunday, September 16, 2012
Where: Lincoln Financial Field

Both the Baltimore Ravens 1-0 (1-0 ATS) and Philadelphia Eagles 1-0 (0-1 ATS) won in week 1, but their performances on the field couldn’t have been more different. The Ravens looked great against the Bengals while the Eagles struggled versus the Browns.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Philadelphia Eagles Betting Lines

The Philadelphia Eagles opened as a -2.5 point favorite, but they’ve already been bet down to a -1 point spread. I figured this spread would move down and I expect the Ravens to be the favored team by kick-off on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.

Baltimore backers should wager on the Ravens money line now while you can get plus money. We’ve seen a big move on the over/under, as the total opened at 44 points and moved to 46.5 points. It wouldn’t surprise me if the total reached 48 pts by kick-off.

Baltimore Ravens

When the Baltimore Ravens point spread opened I knew it would begin to drop due to the public perception. Baltimore beat up on the Bengals in week 1 on MNF (44-13), which included a 10-0 edge in the 1st and 4th quarters of the game.

The Ravens played a complete game on defense and offense in week 1. Joe Flacco went 21/29 for 299 yards and 2 TD’s. He also spread the football around in week 1, as Anquan Boldin, Torrey Smith and Dennis Pitta all caught TD passes in the game.

Ray Rice only had 10 carries in the game, but he gained 68 rushing yards and scored 2 TD’s. Ed Reed also got into the action with his interception that he returned for six points late in the game. Baltimore definitely looks great heading into week 2.

Philadelphia Eagles

The same good news can’t be said about the Philadelphia Eagles heading into week 2. In week 1 the Eagles ended up winning (17-16 @ Cleveland) thanks to a late passing TD by Vick, but they should have been able to beat the inexperienced Browns by a lot more.

The biggest problem for the Eagles was turnovers. The Eagles defense actually had 4 turnovers, which was great. However, the Eagles offense turned the ball over 5 times against the Browns, which is unacceptable and the main reason why Philly struggles.

If you take away the turnovers the Eagles actually moved the football in week 1. The offense gained 306 passing yards (6th) and also added 150 rushing yards (6th). Vick’s accuracy was a big problem that will need to be fixed immediately.

Ravens/Eagles Point Spread

Michael Vick isn’t going to get away with turning the football over against a team like the Ravens. Baltimore’s offense looked great and I expect Rice to have plenty of running lanes. We have some options on the Ravens vs. Eagles point spread right now.

We can get the Ravens +1 (+105) at BetOnline, or +3 (-130) at Bovada.

For the Eagles, we can get them -1 (-125) at BetOnline, or -3 (+110) at Bovada.

Since I’m taking the Ravens to win straight-up, I really like +1 (+105) at BetOnline.

Ravens vs. Eagles Money Line

I think the best value in this game is on the Ravens money line. At BetOnline, the latest moneyline odds is Ravens +120 and Eagles -140. Baltimore paying +120 seems too easy and that’s worrisome, but after week 1 it’s hard to bet on the Eagles. I don’t think we’ll see it get any better than this, so if you like the Ravens to win, get this bet in before the odds change.

This is one of my favorite bets of the week, so I’m taking Ravens +120 on the money line at BetOnline.com.

At the time this article is being written (Saturday, 4:00am EST), Bovada still hasn’t posted a money line for the Eagles/Ravens.

Baltimore vs. Philadelphia Over/Under Odds

If the Ravens vs. Eagles over/under keeps increasing I might take a shot on the under. The problem with the over/under in a game like this is the bet could be won/lost on turnovers, which is impossible to handicap. I’m passing on the over/under for this game.
