Rams vs. Cowboys Point Spread Betting

The St. Louis Rams (1-1, 1-1 ATS) are facing off against the Dallas Cowboys (1-1, 1-1 ATS) in a preseason game that should give bettors a good look at how the Cowboys will fare in the regular season without Jason Witten. It’s the first time the Cowboys are playing on their home field after back-to-back California road games, so expectations are high for America’s Team.

For the Rams, this game is a big test to determine whether last week’s big preseason win over the Kansas City Chiefs was a fluke or a sign of good things to come.

Researching preseason NFL betting is an entirely different animal from regular season betting but one element is always the same; you need to find the best lines you possibly can. To keep up with constantly shifting point spreads, savvy bettors are relying on iPhone betting apps that make finding the best numbers easier than it’s ever been.

St. Louis Packing Preseason Punch

The St. Louis Rams that took the field last week against the Kansas City Chiefs were not the same team that was manhandled by the Indianapolis Colts 38-3 in week one. Quarterback Sam Bradford completed 6-9 for 102 yards and two touchdowns. That helped put the Rams ahead early on and they stayed there for the whole game. Bradford’s backup, Austin Davis went 5-7 for 70 yards and was sacked once.

Bradford got plenty of help from his defense who forced four KC turnovers. Another outing like that will help keep the anemic Dallas offense at bay long enough to keep that 41 point o/u on the under side. So far Dallas has scored just 23 points in the preseason and, despite being on home turf, we don’t see them scoring a lot of points in this game.

The Rams defense held the Chiefs to just ten points in the first half and allowed a solitary TD in the second. With plenty of competition for starting spots on the D-line, the Rams line will be treating this preseason outing like the real thing.

Cowboys Already Struggling

It’s a good thing that the preseason is such a lousy indicator of what the regular season will look like, because the Dallas Cowboys are having a rough one, so far. They did beat the Oakland Raiders (0-2, 1-1 ATS) in a 3-0 snoozer and just lost 28-20 to the San Diego Chargers (2-0, 2-0 ATS) last week.

In that outing, the Dallas defense held strong until the fourth quarter when they gave up three touchdowns. If that’s an indication of their depth on defense, it could be a long season in the Lone Star State.

Dallas is one of those teams that doesn’t feel the need to spend much effort on the preseason and that’s been pretty evident in their performances so far. They’ve got a few defensive standouts, but no one feels compelled to play hard all game and it’s tough to hold that against them.

Our preseason prediction is that Dallas will put up a few more offensive fireworks in their home preseason opener and the chances of another 4th quarter meltdown are pretty slim.

Take America’s team on the point spread by -5 in a low scoring affair that should come in well under 41 points.
