NBA playoffs: Warriors vs. Pelicans game 3 betting lines

Warriors vs. Pelicans Game 3 Betting Preview

Golden State Warriors (2-0) vs. New Orleans Pelicans (0-2) preview

When: Thursday, April 23rd 2015 at 9:35pm ET
Where: Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana
Watch: TNT

THE Golden State Warriors won both home games comfortably, but they now head to the Smoothie King Center – a place where they just lost on April 7th 2015 (103-100). The New Orleans Pelicans are now in desperation mode and need to win.

There’s little doubt the Warriors will win the series, but can the Pelicans save face by winning a game?

Over 80% of the bet slips have been for the Warriors to cover ATS and win on the money line. Golden State were dominant to open the series, but they were far from perfect – especially in the second game. If the Pelicans are going to win one – this will be it.

Starting line-ups

NBA Playoffs: Warriors vs. Pelicans Game 3 BettingGolden State Warriors:

New Orleans Pelicans:

Jrue Holiday didn’t play in game 2 and he remains questionable for the Pelicans. Other than that – there are no other injury concerns. Holiday was ineffective in game 1, but would be a welcome addition.

GSW vs. NOP predictions

Klay Thompson lit it up in the 4th quarter and ended game 2 with 26 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. He provided the spark to lift his team to a victory. Game 2 was up for grabs in the last quarter, but the Pelicans only answer was to keep feeding the Brow.

Davis had a monster line of 26 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks in 45 minutes, however, that still wasn’t enough to get the win. Davis is likely going to need to drop 40+ points at home if he wants to help his team get back in the series.

Eric Gordon has averaged 19.5 PPG in the series, but no one else has provided consistent offense for the Pelicans other than Davis and these two can’t get it done by themselves against a team as deep as GSW.

Bogut has been the defensive standout on the Warriors, as he’s averaging 14.0 RPG and 2.5 BPG.

Curry had 34 points in the series opener, but he cooled down in game 2 and ended with 22 points.

Golden State were the highest scoring team in the NBA this season (110.0 PPG). The Pelicans have held the Warriors to 106 points and 97 points. However, the Warriors are crushing New Orleans on the glass and have won the rebound battle in both games.

Asik and Davis both hauled in double-digits in rebounds in game 2 and will need to do the same again.

I’ve tried to make a case for the Pelicans, but I just can’t get behind this team, especially with a banged up Holiday and Evans. If these two were healthy, it may be a different story.

Bogut is playing inspired defense, Green has 3 steals in each game and contributes in many ways, Thompson and Curry and both averaging over 20+ PPG in the series, plus the Warriors still have players like Barnes, Leandro Barbosa and Andre Iguodala.

No one can take anything away from Davis – he has been extremely efficient and playing great.

However, you’re not going to beat a team like GSW with one superstar. At just –5 points – I’m taking the Warriors to the bank. They mean business and won’t come out sloppy in game 3.

NBA playoffs parlay: Thursday, April 23rd 2015

The Bucks are down 2-0 in their series against the Bulls and are a +130 money line underdog in game 3.

I expect Milwaukee to make this series close now that they’re home. Jimmy Butler has been killing the Bucks, as he led all scorers with 25 points in game 1 and again in game 2 with 31 points. If the Bucks can shutdown Butler, they’ll have a great shot at winning.

Khris Middleton has been great for the Bucks – he’s averaging 20.0 PPG to lead the team. However, Michael Carter-Williams and Giannis Antetokounmpo are slumping at the wrong time, and both guys are shooting poorly from the field.

The Bucks bench outscored the Bulls bench in both games, however, Jason Kidd needs more out of every starter other than Middleton – no one can complain about his production.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Boston Celtics game 3 preview

The third NBA playoff game on Thursday features the Cavaliers vs. Celtics. The Cavaliers are up 2-0 in the series after taking care of business at home, but game 2 was too close for comfort. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving both needed huge games to get the win.

No betting lines are out yet for the Cavs at Celtics, but it’ll be the biggest point spread of the night.

I don’t have a ton of betting interest in this game, unless I can get the Cavs at –5 or –6 points on the road. Cleveland haven’t been playing their best basketball yet and they should have no problem finishing up this series in Boston this week.
