Henderson vs. Edgar UFC 150 Betting Odds

UFC 150 is set to kick off in Denver, Colorado at the Pepsi Center on Saturday, August 11th. The biggest fight on the card is a lightweight championship rematch between Frankie Edgar and Ben Henderson who went head to head back in February when they fought at UFC 143. The first fight went to the reigning champion Henderson, and Henderson is getting major love from sports bettors, currently a -190 favorite at BetOnline.com.  If you’re looking to bet Edgar as the underdog, he’s listed at +165 at the time of this writing.

After their first fight, Frankie Edgar refused to drop down to featherweight to go against champion Jose Aldo, and was instead granted a rematch against Henderson. Many people feel that Henderson won the first fight in a definitive enough fashion to question if this rematch should even be happening.

Betting Odds Shifted for The Henderson vs. Edgar Fight

Six months ago, Henderson was a +120 underdog for this fight, and now he’s a -190 favorite. That’s a huge change, and it shows that bettors are gaining confidence in him. Henderson has size and incredible power behind his strikes, and he’s been able to wear down his opponents in recent fights. He’s won four straight victories by decision, leading him to where he is now as the lightweight champion.

Ben Henderson vs. Frankie Edgar Prediction

One thing worth noting is the size difference between Edgar and Henderson. Edgar is about 5’6″, while Ben Henderson is 5’9″ – a height difference which played a role in the first fight. Edgar thinks he’ll be able to get Henderson on the ground, but if he’s unable to do that it’s going to be Henderson’s fight once again.

Henderson should be able to keep the match upright for enough time to control the fight. Edgar is obviously out for redemption, but Henderson should be highly focused on proving that he deserves his title. I’m rolling with the favorite in Ben Henderson at -190.

What Does This Fight Mean?

If Edgar loses this fight, he’ll likely head to the featherweight class and go for a title shot against the previously mentioned Jose Aldo. If Henderson wins the fight and holds onto his belt, he could be looking at some big time match-ups against Anthony Pettis or possibly Nate Diaz.  Regardless of what happens, both fighters are in for some big fights down the road, but none bigger than this UFC 150 fight on August 11th.
