Giants vs. Saints Online Betting

Teams: New York Giants at New Orleans Saints
Time: Week 12, Monday Night Football. November 28, 2011. 8:30 pm ET
Television: ESPN

For week 12 Monday Night Football, we’ve got a great matchup between the NY Giants and New Orleans Saints. The Giants come into the game at 6-4 overall, but only 1-2 against NFC East rivals. This means the Dallas Cowboys (6-4) have the edge in the division right now because of their 2-1 division record.

The New Orleans Saints sit on top of the NFC South with a 7-3 record. The Saints are 4-0 at home this year, while the Giants are 3-2 on the road.

Giants vs. Saints Online Betting Odds

For bettors located in the United States, BetOnline and Bodog are the best online betting sites. US bettors can use Visa, Amex, or Mastercard to deposit at BetOnline, or Visa at Bodog.

The BetOnline Sportsbook is our favorite online betting site for NFL football. They get their lines up quicker than other books, and lots of prop bets are available as well. NFL point spreads & over/under odds usually get posted on Sunday nights after the day games are over, and money lines usually go up on Monday. BetOnline is also a good choice for high stakes bettors in the United States. They offer mobile betting on iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry, and every other type of cell phone or tablet.

We also like the Bodog Sportsbook, but their lines are damn slow. This is one of the most reputable online betting sites in the world, but they’re best for casual punters rather than serious handicappers.

Best Point Spread for the NY Giants

At the time of this writing, the NY Giants point spread is +7 (-115) at BetOnline.com. The Bodog Sportsbook hasn’t posted their betting lines for this game yet, but we’ll update this article when they do.

Best Point Spread for the New Orleans Saints

Right now, the New Orleans Saints point spread is -7 (-105) at BetOnline. Once again, Bodog hasn’t posted their odds yet.

The Saints offense is so good that I think they should cover this spread without too much trouble. I’m betting on the New Orleans Saints and giving up the points.

New York Giants Money Line at Bet Online Sportsbook

The New York Giants money line is currently +255 at BetOnline.com. Playing in New Orleans, I don’t like this bet. I expect the Saints to win outright, and +255 doesn’t look like enough value for me.

New Orleans Saints Money Line at Bet Online Sportsbook

The New Orleans Saints money line is -305 at BetOnline right now. I expect them to win, but that seems like a hefty price to me. I’m going to skip this money line as well, and stick to betting the point spread and over/under for this game.

Giants vs. Saints Over/Under at BetOnline.com

At BetOnline.com, the over/under on the Saints vs. Giants game is 51 (-105) on the over, and 51 (-115) on the under.

I’m predicting a Saints win, with a score in the range of 30-21 up to 33-24. This puts the total in the range of 51 to 57, so I’m going to bet the over.

The Saints are scoring a ridiculous 31.3 points per game (2nd in the NFL), and the Giants are scoring 22.8 ppg. Both teams are giving up an average of 22.8 ppg, but of course these stats only tell us a small part of the story. When you look at the basic defensive stats, it’s unbelievable how closely these teams match up.

Defensive Stats Comparison:

Saints Defense, Total Yards: 3614
Giants Defense, Total Yards: 3621

Saints Defense, Total Passing Yards: 2399
Giants Defense, Total Passing Yards: 2391

Saints Defense, Total Rushing Yards: 1215
Giants Defense, Total Rushing Yards: 1230

Both teams have given up exactly 228 points on the season, showing just how closely matched their defenses are. The Giants defense is +7 in takeaways/giveaways however,m compared to -5 for the Saints. The Giants have intercepted 14 passes this year and caused 8 fumbles as well.

Offensive Comparison

This is where these teams are so different. The New Orleans Saints offense is extremely good, and #1 in the NFL for total yards (4369). This has translated into the second-highest scoring team in the league, scoring 8.5 ppg more than the Giants.

The Giants running game is the second-worst in the NFL, recording just 83.2 yards per game. The Saints have the best passing game in the league, and a better-than-average running game.

Saints QB Drew Brees has been a beast this year, completing 70.9% of his pass attempts and throwing 23 TD’s with 11 INT’s. The Saints have three runningbacks who share the ball, all with 340 – 348 yards each. Darren Sproles is the playmaker of the group, averaging 6.8 yards per carry. Pierre Thomas and Mark Ingram are the other backs, and the three RB’s have combined for just 2 fumbles all season. Opponents have too many weapons to cover, setting up the passing offense.

The Saints have 7 players that have recorded between 251 – 873 yards apiece, giving Drew Brees plenty of guys to go to. Jimmy Graham is the leading receiver, with 6 TD’s and 14 catches for 20+ yards.

For the Giants, QB Eli Manning has had a very good season. He’s thrown 18 TD’ and only 9 INT’s, but he doesn’t have the weapons to keep up with the Saints. We could go through all the numbers, but what’s the point? The NY Giants running game has been ineffective all year, and Manning doesn’t have a receiving corps that matches up against the Saints.

Saints vs. Giants MNF Prediction & Free Pick

This game comes down to offense – unless the Giants can create enough turnovers to keep Brees off the field. If the Saints can hold onto the ball, this game is offense vs. offense, and the Saints have a distinct advantage. They’re also playing at home, and nobody likes to lose at home on a nationally televised game when the entire country is watching. The Saints are 4-0 at home so far this year, an all signs point to a fairly easy win for the Saints.

At BetOnline, the point spread is currently +7 (-115) for the Giants, and -7 (-105) for the Saints. I hate giving up exactly 7 points, but we’re getting -105, and the Saints could potentially blow out the G-Men.

I’m going to bet on the Saints -7 (-105) at BetOnline.com. If you prefer the Giants and the points, you’ll have to pay -115, but you have a fair shot at a push as well.
