Everton v Manchester City Betting Preview

Everton v Man City – Premier League Round 30
When: 1:45pm GMT. Saturday, March 17th 2013
Where: Goodison Park in Walton, England

Everton (11-12-5) is 7th on the league table with 45 pts heading into this week’s home fixture against Manchester City (17-8-3) who is still sitting in 2nd place on the league table with 59 pts. I definitely expect the Toffees to put on a strong performance at home.

Last weekend both teams played an FA Cup fixture. Everton was blown out 3-0 against Wigan while Man City dominated a home match against Barnsley (5-0). After such an embarrassing loss Everton is going to be focused on Saturday in front of their fans.

Latest Everton v Man City 1X2 Odds & Betting Preview

It’s no surprise that Manchester City is favoured in this match even though they’re playing an away fixture. You can still bet City at plus money and that’s due to their consistency problems in away matches and the fact Everton plays them tough.

Everton is only 2 pts behind Arsenal for 5th place in the Premier League. With the season winding down they have to start to win consistently if they want a T5 finish on the league table. Thankfully, Everton has had success against Man City at Goodison.

Since 2011 in league play the Toffees are 2-1-1 against the Citizens with both of Everton’s wins coming at Goodison. Everton beat Man City 2-1 and 1-0 in the L2 matches at Goodison. They’ve also played the T5 teams in the league tough this season.

Everton is 2-2-2 against the T5 teams in the league with home wins over Man Utd (1-0) and Tottenham (2-1). Everton is 7-6-1 when playing at Goodison with their lone home loss against Chelsea (2-1). The Toffees are always a tough home squad.

When playing at Goodison the Toffees wake up offensively. The team averages 1.79 GPG at home, but the back line is weak and has conceded an average of 1.21 GPG at Goodison while only keeping a clean sheet in 14.3% of their home matches.

Throughout the season the Citizens have played some very weak away matches. Manchester City has lost to Sunderland (1-0) and more recently Southampton (3-1) away from the Etihad. Overall Man City has gone 7-5-2 in away matches this season.

The reason for the inconsistency is the offence has had dry spells in matches away from the Etihad. Manchester City averages just 1.43 GPG in away matches, which is way lower than their scoring average when playing at home (2.21 GPG).

Everton v Man City Betting Tips

Everton is just 2-1-2 in their L5 league matches, but during that span they’re 2-1-0 at Goodison. When you look at the recent H2H the Toffees have had great results at home and when you combine that with Man City’s inconsistency I like this bet a lot.

Fellaini who leads Everton with 11 goals this season including 6 at Goodison will need to be in his best form. Man City only allows 0.93 GPG in away matches and scoring on them isn’t going to be easy, as they’ve held clean sheets in their L2 matches.

Earlier this season these two played at the Etihad and the match finished as a 1-1 draw. Fellaini opened the scoring, but then the Toffees gave up a penalty that Tevez made no mistake with. The 2nd half was scoreless, as neither team could finish.

I like the under in this match based on recent history between these two teams. The L3 H2H matches in league play have ended under 2.5 goals, which is why I think this match will be low scoring as well despite the fact these two teams tend to score a lot.

At Goodison Everton has gone over 2.5 goals in 71.4% of their matches while Man City has gone O2.5 in just 42.9% of their away matches due to an offense that has had trouble scoring. At almost even money this is a great bet.

Make sure you bet on the “Insurebet First Goalscorer” market that pays 7.50 right now. With this bet if Fellaini scores anytime, but it isn’t the 1st goal of the match your wager is returned. It pays a bit lower than normal, but there is less risk.

Fellaini has been fairly quiet the past month, but he did score the 1st goal in the match against Reading earlier this month and he also scored the lone goal against Man City earlier in the season. Fellaini will need a goal for Everton to have success this week.
