EPL: Manchester United v Manchester City betting tips

Wayne Rooney will score against Manchester City

Manchester United v Manchester City – Premier League Matchweek 32

When: Sunday, April 12th 2015 at 11:00am ET (4:00pm BST)
Where: Old Trafford in Greater Manchester, England
Watch: NBCSN, Sky Sports 1 & TSN

MANCHESTER United will attempt to increase the distance between themselves and Manchester City on Sunday at Old Trafford and they couldn’t have run into the Citizens at a better time.

This is the second Manchester derby of the season – City won 1-0 at Etihad at the beginning of November. Sergio Aguero scored in the 63rd minute for the Citizens. City have now won four consecutive matches against United, including two wins at Old Trafford.

However, this appears to be a great chance for the Red Devils to pick up the full three points.

United are 3rd on the league table (62 Points) and they’ve won five matches in a row, while only conceding two goals. City have now dropped into 4th on the league table (61 Points), thanks to shocking losses against Burnley (1-0) and Crystal Palace (2-1).

Man Utd v Man City match odds

· 1X2: Manchester United (2.60) / Draw (3.30) / Manchester City (2.75)

· O/U: Over 2.5 Goals (1.85) / Under 2.5 Goals (1.95)

Man Utd. took a lot of early action and they steamed into 2.40, but the price has since settled. The over has gotten more action than the under thus far and for good reason. The last match only had one goal, but the four matches before that all had 3+ goals.

MCI at MUN betting preview

Manchester City are falling apart, especially away from Etihad. City have lost four consecutive away matches in all competitions and that includes three Premier League losses. Losing to Liverpool is fine, but the other two losses were both terrible.

It would appear City will finish in the top 4, but fourth place isn’t an ideal position to finish in. There’s still a lot of football to play, but the Citizens need to start a good run of form soon. A loss at Old Trafford would put them in an even poorer position.

The Red Devils will need another strong performance by Wayne Rooney to win this match. The last time United beat City was in September 2012 and Rooney scored two goals. Rooney has typically done well against the Citizens and his current form is great.

Rooney has four goals in league play during the Red Devils current winning streak and he now leads the team in goals (12). I expect Louis van Gaal to stick with Rooney upfront only. Robin Van Persie is back to full training, but isn’t likely to feature in the derby.

Juan Mata and Ander Herrera are both in great form too. Mata scored a brace against Liverpool two matches ago and Herrera just netted a brace against Aston Villa last week. With the way Man Utd. are producing – I wouldn’t change anything if I were Gaal.

City are 3-0 in their last three home matches and they outscored those opponents 10-0. They’re still winning at Etihad, but they’ve been under performing in away matches. Sergio Aguero hasn’t scored an away goal since February 11th against Stoke City.

Aguero needs to find his away form again, as he was great earlier in the season. Aguero has scored 17 goals – 10 of which have come away from Etihad. Yaya Toure scored his eighth goal of the campaign last time out against CP, but it was too little, too late for City.

The Red Devils are 13-1-2 at Old Trafford this season – the last time they lost at home was January 11th against Southampton (1-0). Man Utd. are scoring an average of 2.25 GPG and conceding 0.69 GPG at home – both well above the league average.

You can never rule City out. They still score an average of 2.00 GPG and concede 1.13 GPG in away matches. With Toure finding form, City need Aguero to step up and he always seems to against United. He has four goals in the last four matches against United.

Manchester United v Manchester City predictions

United are full of confidence, while the Citizens have been unable to beat teams flirting with relegation.

These Manchester derby matches are always intense and this match will be even fiercer than the first. 3rd place on the league table is up for grabs, plus you can bet the Red Devils want to get the full three points after losing four straight to their rival.

A draw wouldn’t surprise me, but I’d be shocked if City win at Old Trafford based on their current form.

This market at CrownBet is on who will score first United only – any goals by City are irrelevant. You should wait until line-ups are confirmed, but if Rooney is starting upfront by himself again he should have no problem opening the scoring for the home side.

If United are going to win Rooney is likely to feature on the score sheet and we’re getting a good price.
