Eagles Home Favorites Against the Redskins

Washington Redskins vs. Philadelphia Eagles Preview

When: Sunday, November 17th 2013 at 1:00pm ET
Where: Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia
Watch: Live on FOX

We have a great NFC East match-up between the Washington Redskins 3-6 (3-6 ATS) and Philadelphia Eagles 5-5 (5-5 ATS). Philly is in a battle with the Cowboys at the top of the division while Washington is last in the division and not looking like a contender.

Will Philadelphia Win Their Third Game in a Row

A lot of us thought that once Vick went out it would disrupt the offense that Chip Kelly wanted to run. They’ve had to make changes and pass more often, but Nick Foles has completed 63.2% of his passes (86/136) for 1256 yards, 12 TD’s and 0 INT’s (QBR 132.5).

Riley Cooper never seems to gel with Vick, but all of a sudden he has 28 receptions for 555 yards and 7 TD’s. LeSean McCoy has been rolling along as well. McCoy has 193 carries for 932 yards and 3 TD’s plus he also has 30 receptions for 326 yards and 1 TD.

The Eagles rank 11th in points scored (25.2 PPG), 9th in passing yards (260.3 PYPG) and 2nd in rushing yards (153.1 RYPG). They should have no problem scoring against the Redskins who have allowed 274.8 PYPG (26th), 113.8 RYPG (18th) and 31.9 PPG (31st).

With the talent on the Redskins offense it’s hard to believe the team has such a poor record. Washington has one of the top offenses in the league that’s averaging 25.6 PPG (9th), 259.2 PYPG (10th) and 151.2 RYPG (3rd), but the defense is amongst the worst.

Last week the Redskins lost 34-27 to the Vikings. That is way too many points to allow against an offense like Minnesota. They now have to try and deal with the Foles passing attack and I don’t think they’ll be able to stop Riley Cooper and DeSean Jackson.

Eagles vs. Redskins H2H

These two teams played in week 1 and the Eagles shocked the Redskins in the 1H by playing at an extremely fast pace. It was the 1st game back for RGIII as well and he started slow. Philadelphia had a 26-7 lead after the 1H, but they only ended up winning 33-27.

Vick played in that game and the Eagles rushed the football 49 times. That won’t happen with Foles as the starting QB, so it’s going to be tough for the Redskins to game plan this week. The Eagles know what to expect although RGIII is playing better now.

RGIII threw two interceptions in the game against Philly and he has nine on the season, but he didn’t throw one last week. This is a huge game for both of these NFC East teams. Philly is just 2-2 in the division while the Redskins are 0-2 in division games this year.

Fantasy Studs to Target in This Game

Cooper has been the beneficiary of some long passes from Foles and in the last two weeks he has caught 5 TD passes. He has quickly become the #1 target for Foles downfield and Cooper has stepped up his game and is making big plays with his size.

TE Jordan Reed is 2nd on the Redskins with 44 receptions for 487 yards (3 TD’s) and he has been improving each week. The Eagles are ranked 31st against the pass (306.5 PYPG) and Reed should have plenty of room to operate while Garcon and Moss draw coverage.

Redskins vs. Eagles Best Bet

I’ve been going back and forth on this game all week, but one thing I do no is that this game will be exciting. Both teams should have success through the air and I like the over, but my best bet is the Redskins +3.5 points. If the spread were –2.5 points I’d pass.

RGIII has settled down and the passing game has started to get going. Both teams also have solid running games, but I think we’ll see these teams air it out on Sunday. Foles has been great, but I don’t think he’ll post nearly as good of numbers down the stretch.

Philly is also 0-4 at home this season and they don’t even remember what it’s like to win at Lincoln Financial Field. Washington isn’t much better on the road (1-3). This NFC East rivalry game should be exciting and I could see either team winning this by a FG.
