Celtics vs. Heat Betting Lines

Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat
When: 8:05pm EST. Tuesday, October 30, 2012
Where: American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida

The Boston Celtics and Miami Heat renew their rivalry tonight night when they meet at the AA Arena. Last season in the NBA playoffs the Heat knocked out the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Championship in 7 games. Miami is favored at home in this one.

On a night when the Miami Heat will be awarded their NBA Championship rings, the fans are going to be crazy. The Heat were also able to steal Ray Allen from the Celtics this off-season, as Allen felt Miami gave him his best chance at winning a ring this year. Let’s look at the latest betting lines.

Latest Celtics vs. Heat Opening Day Betting Lines

Miami opened at -8 points, but the spread is now bet down to -6.5 at BetOnline. If you like them, I recommend betting the Heat at -6.5 (-110) because this point spread may drift out further.

Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat Preview – Oct. 30, 2012

The Heat and Celtics are both looking to get out to a quick start, and it should be a physically tough game. These bitter rivals are going to want to set the tone for the rest of the gruelling 82-game regular season.

Avery Bradley, Chris Wilcox and Joel Anthony are questionable for tonight’s game. Mario Chalmers is also coming back from an injury, but all signs point to him playing. None of the big players in the game are injured and it should be a great game.

Miami’s big 3 (James, Wade & Bosh) should be able to outplay the Celtics on Tuesday night. Last season the Heat’s offense averaged 97.9 PPG compared to the Celtics who averaged 91.3 PPG and only 90.8 PPG when playing on the road.

Losing Ray Allen to the Heat is going to hurt the Celtics as well because he was clutch. He’s deadly from beyond the arc, and as the Heat’s sixth man and all this talent feeding him the basketball, he should put up big numbers this year. With the big-3 getting the double-teams and defensive attention, Allen will be a big threat.

Defensively last season, the Celtics were worse on the road than their season average. They allowed 89.1 PPG on average, but on the road they allowed their opponents to score 93.6 PPG. Miami only allowed an average of 89.1 PPG at home and should be able to limit the Celtics.

We can talk all the numbers we want, but this game is beyond all that. I love the Ray Allen addition to the Heat, and he could find a lot of open shots this season. When he’s hot, the Heat will be almost impossible to beat. Defenses can’t afford to leave James & Wade undefended, but they’ll have to pay attention to Allen as well. His presence alone will spread defenses around the floor, and give the Heat more high-percentage shots.

Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat Predictions

Point Spread: Bet the Miami Heat -6.5 (-110) at BetOnline.com

The new additions of Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis should pay dividends for the Heat who had a terrible bench last year. With an improved bench, the Heat will be an even stronger team this season and I like their chances to win this by over 7+ points.

Celtics vs. Heat Over/Under

Over/Under: Bet Over 185.5 (-110) at BetOnline

The Celtics vs. Heat over/under is currently 185.5 (-110) on either side at BetOnline, and 186 (-110) on either side at Bovada. Despite the fact these teams played well defensively last season, I’m betting the over of 185.5 in this game. With this being game 1 of the season, I expect both offenses to score plenty. I predict Allen is going to score 12+ off the bench to help this go over. My final score prediction: 102 – 95 Heat, for a total of 197.

If you prefer the under, take u186 (-110) at Bovada instead.
