Cardinals vs. Rams Over/Under

For week 5 Thursday Night Football the Arizona Cardinals will be on the road to play the St. Louis Rams. Arizona will be traveling to St. Louis today (Tues) and only have a couple days to prepare for the game. St. Louis is playing at home for the 2nd week and won’t have to travel.

I’m going to be betting the total on this game, and below is my analysis and free betting prediction.

Rams vs. Cardinals Over/Under Betting Analysis

The Arizona Cardinals over/under record is 1/3 after four weeks due to a weak offense and strong defense. The St. Louis Rams over/under record is now 2-2 after going under in the past two games against the Bears (6-23 loss) and Seahawks (19-13 win).

This game has the lowest game total on the board at the moment at just 38.5 points and I’ve bet on the over. The Rams have a 2-0 home record to begin the season and they’ve averaged 25 PPG at home compared to just 14.5 PPG on the road.

The Rams have averaged 369 total yards per game in two games at home, compared to their season average of 287 YPG. In this game the Rams will have to beat the stingy Cardinals defense that has only allowed an average of 15.3 PPG (3rd).

Last weekend the Cardinals defense allowed 20 points at home to Miami and they were shredded defensively. Tannehill threw for 431 passing yards and 1 TD in the game, and if Tannehill can do that on the road Bradford should do alright at home.

Kevin Kolb and Arizona were shut out in the 1st half last weekend, but the offense clicked in the 2nd half. Kolb threw for 324 yards and 3 TD’s, but the running game was never able to get going. I expect Ryan Williams to gain a lot more yards this week.

One stat I like is the redzone efficiency of the Cardinals. They’ve averaged 3.2 redzone attempts per game this season (13th) and they’ve scored TD’s 53.85% of the time. Converting against the Rams shouldn’t be a problem.

St. Louis has allowed their opponents to get into the redzone 3.2 times per game (19th), scoring TD’s 60% of the time. I expect the Cardinals to score TD’s instead of FG’s.

When you look at the Cardinals redzone efficiency and the struggles on the Rams on defense in the redzone, plus the fact that the Rams are better offensively at home, I think you need to bet the low total and go over the 38.5 points.

If you wait, you may be able to get a better line, as the early action has been on the under so far. One stat I like is that the game with the lowest total each week is 3-1 on the over so far this season, with last week (SEA/STL) being the only one to stay under.

Both teams have been able to get a lot of turnovers on defense this year as well, and I expect both teams to have short fields to work with in this game. As long as the Cardinals and Rams punch in some TD’s instead of just FG’s, I expect this game to go over.

Arizona Cardinals vs. St. Louis Rams Over/Under Predictions

My prediction for the Cardinals vs. Rams over/under is that we’ll see a total of 40-42 points, so I’m taking the over.

Bet the Over 38.5 (-110) at BetOnline.com (Bet $110 to win $100)

I think the over is the winner in this game, but if you prefer the under, the best line is at Bovada.lv, at u39 (-110).
