The Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1-0 (1-0 ATS) won as a small home underdog in week 1 against the Panthers. For week 2, the Buc’s travel to MetLife Stadium to play the New York Giants 0-1 (0-1 ATS). Since they opened the season on Wednesday the 5th, the Giants have had a few extra days to prepare for this match-up.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers completely shut down Cam Newton & company in week 1 in Tampa, but things get tougher now. The Buc’s were able to run the football successfully against the Panthers (130 rushing yards), and they’ll be looking to establish the run against the Giants as well. Rookie Doug Martin gained 95 rushing yards on 24 carries against the Panthers.

The Tampa Bay defense only allowed the Panthers to gain 10 rushing yards (13 attempts) in the game, but they allowed 291 passing yards. Eli Manning will be looking to air it out in week 2 after having a bad week 1 performance. The Buccaneers secondary will need to make adjustments and limit the Giants passing game if they’re going to have a shot in this game.

Offensively, the Bucs need to improve their passing game, as they gained just 128 yards through the air against the Panthers. V-Jax struggled in his Buc’s debut.

NY Giants

The New York Giants started the season at home against the Cowboys last Wednesday, losing 24-17. After the game, Coughlin told players that it’s time to get back to work if they want to make another Superbowl run. With the first week behind them, Coughlin will have his team ready to go.

NYG struggled on both sides of the football in week 1 although the defense didn’t break down until late in the game. The Giants only gained a total of 269 yards (187 pass yards & 82 rush yards), but against the Bucs secondary, Eli Manning should do better.

Rookie RB David Wilson was used early in the game, but he fumbled and didn’t get another chance after that point. RB Ahmad Bradshaw was able to gain 78 yards on 17 carries, getting into the end zone one time. The Giants defense will need to improve after giving up 433 total yards against the Cowboys.

Bucs/Giants Point Spread

The current point spread in this week 2 TB vs. NYG match-up is 7 points. I expect Buc’s QB Josh Freeman to have a good day, and for the Bucs to keep this one close. I preferred Tampa Bay when they were +7.5, but I still like them at +7 (-110) at BetOnline.

If you prefer New York, the best Giants point spread is currently -7 (-110) at both BetOnline and Bovada.

Buccaneers vs. Giants Money Line

The current (Saturday, 2:10am EST) Tampa Bay Buccaneers money line is +275 at Bovada, and the best Giants money line is -325 at BetOnline. At +275, it’s tempting to bet on the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay looked good in week 1, and the Giants didn’t look good at all. The Giants are notoriously slow starters, and +275 looks like a good value to me.

Check out BetOnline and Bovada for the latest Bucs vs. Giants money line.

Giants vs. Buccaneers Over/Under

The Tampa Bay secondary was shredded in week 1, but the Panthers couldn’t put up points. The Giants defense was poor in week 1 as well, and we might be in for a fairly high scoring game.

At the time of this writing, the Giants vs Buc’s over/under is 44 (-110) on both sides at BetOnline and Bovada. I’m expecting a game in the 24-17 to 27-24 range, which gives us totals in the 41-51 area.

This gives us more potential wins on the over, so of course I’m taking the over for this game.
