We are no longer recommending the BetOnline Sportsbook. For safe, secure mobile betting in the United States, we recommend the Bovada Sportsbook. Bovada is the US version of Bodog, one of the most trusted online sportsbooks in the world. Bovada accepts Visa deposits from American customers.
If you already have an account at Bovada and are looking for another site to bet at, we also recommend the JustBet Sportsbook. They’re another very good US friendly online/mobile sportsbook, and they also accept Visa for deposits.
BetOnline.com Mobile Sportsbook Review
* The content below is no longer valid. We’re leaving the content up in case this site ever gets their act together. Until then, we do NOT recommend BetOnline.com.
The BetOnline mobile sportsbook welcomes US bettors, and is available for Apple iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry, Nokia, and any Windows based mobile phones. Essentially, any internet enabled device is compatible because they use a mobile-ready version of their website instead of apps. Although customers do not have the app shortcut to use, no download is required, and thus no memory from your mobile device is being used.
The BetOnline mobile sportsbook runs smooth & fast, and offers all of the same bets as the website. They’re known mostly for their US sports, focusing heavily on NFL & NCAA football, NBA & NCAA basketball, UFC, MLB baseball, and NHL hockey. They also offer international soccer leagues, PGA & LPGA golf, WTA & ATP tennis, NASCAR, cricket, rugby, and boxing.
BetOnline posts their sports betting odds earlier than most other books. NFL football point spreads and over/under odds usually go up on Sunday night, a couple hours after the day-games are done. Money lines usually go up on Monday. These early lines give bettors a shot at some value they won’t find on Tuesday or later in the week. NCAA football & basketball, MLB, NHL, and NBA lines are also posted very early.
BetOnline.com had industry standard vig of 10% on most bets, but down to 5% on MLB and NBA money lines. They’re a great site for US sports overall, but they’re weak in futures and live betting. Their futures odds are generally much shorter for favorites than other sportsbooks, and tend to have lower caps for dogs. They don’t have live betting running yet either – something we hope will change very soon. Live betting is becoming way to popular for them to ignore much longer. Aside from futures bets and the lack of live betting, BetOnline is a great site for placing bets.
BetOnline.com Compatible Mobile Phones & Tablets
The BetOnline.com mobile betting site is compatible with every internet enabled mobile device. This includes iPhone, iPad, iPod, Android, Blackberry, Nokia, and all Windows based smartphones & tablets.
After registering a new account from your computer, login from your mobile device and the software will automatically redirect you to the appropriate mobile version of the site.
iPhone, iPad & Ipod iOS for BetOnline Sportsbook
As mentioned above, the BetOnline Sportsbook is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod mobile devices. With their large screen sizes, iPhone and iPad users will find the betting software simple to use & navigate the first time they use it.
If you don’t have an account at BetOnline, we recommend registering through your computer first. Then, fund your account from your computer as well, then login to the site from you iPhone, iPad, or internet enabled iPod. The signup process is much easier and faster.
Android (Droid) for BetOnline.com Sports Betting
All Android cell phones and mobile devices are compatible with the BetOnline Sportsbook. Any handicappper using an internet enabled Android or ‘Droid by Motorola’ cell phone will be automatically redirected to the version of the betting software designed for Android users. The betting software takes advantage of the large Android screen sizes, and makes it simple to navigate.
For the easiest signup process, we recommend signing up through your computer first, then going to www.BetOnline.com from your Droid.
Blackberry for BetOnline Sportsbook
Although most Blackberry smartphones have smaller screen sizes than iPhone, iPad, and Android mobile devices, BetOnline has developed a betting app that works very well on Blackberry cell phones & PDA’s. The design of the Blackberry betting site is minimalist, making it clear and simple to read.
In 2012, Blackberry is expected to be introducing a new phone with a full-size touchscreen to compete against Android and Apple iOS mobile devices. This new Blackberry is rumored to be much more user-friendly, with easier typing abilities (thank god!). After losing a significant percentage of the mobile market, Blackberry claims this new phone will be a legitimate contender in the market. We hope so.
BetOnline.com Mobile Casino
BetOnline does not yet offer mobile casino games – just the mobile sportsbook. When the BetOnline mobile casino is up and running, we’ll update this section.
The BetOnline.com Casino offers all of the most popular casino games, including several blackjack games, American & European roulette, craps, baccarat, slots, 3D slots, video poker, 3 card poker, Caribbean poker, Let it Ride, Pai Gow, Casino War, Red Dog, and more.
BetOnline Mobile Poker
The BetOnline mobile poker site is not yet available. We’ll update this section when they add this feature.
We believe the mobile poker market is still 1+ years away from being good enough that people will want to play from their mobile devices (aside from iPad). However, we know there are several online poker sites that are currently working to improve on what’s currently available, and we hope BetOnline is one of them.
