The Bengals vs. Texans over/under hasn’t seen any movement in the last couple of days. It’s now Friday morning (3:00am ET), and I’m a bit surprised we haven’t seen any movement since soon after it opened. The over/under opened at 44.5, but sharps hit that hard right out of the box and dropped it to where we stand now. Since then, nothing has happened.

Being playoff time I would’ve thought there would be more public bettors hitting the under right now, but it hasn’t happened yet. That’s good news for those who like the under, and I recommend getting those bets in soon – before the over/under comes down.

Texans/Bengals Over/Under Analysis

Originally I thought we’d see the Bengals vs. Texans over/under comes down to around 41.5. Now I’m not so sure. I still think it’s possible we could see 42, but it’s hard to say. About 60% of the money is going to the over right now, but I don’t expect that to last.

It looks like bettors are confused on what to expect out of the Houston offense. That’s understandable considering their weak performances the last two weeks. This offense is capable of more, but they’ve stumped us the last two weeks. I’m willing to bet (pardon the pun) that the handle on this wager will be lower than the other Wild Card games. Uncertainty is likely to keep bettors on the sidelines, but I think that’s a mistake.

Personally, I see this as an opportunity to bet the under. I think the Texans defense will try to put this game on their shoulders, and I think they’ll make it more difficult on the Bengals than they have other recent opponents.

On the other side of the ball, the Bengals defense has been stellar in their last 8 games, giving up just 12.75 points per game. Granted, some of those teams were pretty bad, but some weren’t. Since week 10, the Bengals have only given up more than 17 points one time, which was a 20-19 loss to the Cowboys. They gave up 13 to the Giants in week 10, 10 to Pittsburgh in week 16, and 17 to Baltimore last week.

Cincinnati doesn’t score a ton of points either. Add the recent dysfunction of the Texans offense to it all, and it looks like a great time to bet the under.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Houston Texans O/U Pick

The Bengals have given up less than 13 points/game since their 7-1 tear began, and the Texans defense should step up for this playoff game. Even though the Texans vs. Bengals over/under came down 1.5 points right off the bat, I still like the under in this one. In fact, I’ll be surprised if we see a total any higher than 41, so this is an easy choice for me.
