The Toronto Raptors are celebrating winning the 2019 NBA Championship today with a huge parade, but the future odds for winning the 2020 NBA Championship are already released at Bovada.

The odds above were last updated on June 17th 2019. We’ll keep this article updated, as the odds on winning the 2020 NBA Championship will fluctuate a lot over the next several weeks.

Plenty of superstars and stars could be changing teams once free agency opens on June 30th 2019.

In fact, we’ve already had a blockbuster trade, as the Pelicans dealt Anthony Davis to the Lakers for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and three first-round picks, including the #4 pick this year.

With the big trade, the Lakers are now favorites to win the 2020 NBA Championship. Pairing up Davis and LeBron James is lethal, but the Lakers now have the difficulty of filling out the roster.

Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson may not be back with the Warriors, but even if they are, they have to recover from injuries, which makes the Western Conference more open than in year’s past.

Best Bets to Win the 2020 NBA Championship

Toronto Raptors Logo 2020If Kawhi Leonard resigns on a 1+1 contract, these odds will drop. The Raptors could potentially bring back the same team that just won the NBA Championship and the East isn’t getting much stronger.

Toronto have veterans in Kyle Lowry, Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol, plus a young core that features Pascal Siakam, Fred Vanvleet and OG Anunoby. If Leonard is back in the fold, this is going to be the best team in the NBA next season and we could see a new dynasty started.

The Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks will provide the toughest challenges next season.

However, we don’t know how the 76ers will look. Will Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris return? If not, the 76ers are still in a good position, but won’t have the depth the Raptors have.

The Bucks could end up losing Khris Middleton and Malcolm Brogdon. I expect Middleton to return, but losing Brogdon is going to hurt a team that lacked mid-tier scoring options.

Denver Nuggets Logo 2020I’m surprised we’re getting 20/1 odds on the Nuggets. This team lost to Portland in the playoffs, but it was a series I thought they should have won, but inexperience hurt them.

I believe the Nuggets shouldn’t pick up the Paul Millsap team option, as he’s too costly. He’s a great defender, but I would like to see the Nuggets try and make a splash in the trade market.

Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray are off the table, but everyone else should be made available in the right trade. However, even as this team stands now, they have a shot in a more open West. Denver finished second in the West last season (54-28) and could improve in 2019-20.

The Lakers (+250), Warriors (+750), Rockets (+850) and Clippers (+1400) are all ahead of the Nuggets in the 2020 NBA Championship futures market and those are just Western Conference teams.

I could see the Nuggets being better than all of these teams. The Rockets are stuck with a Chris Paul contract that’s horrendous and they’re unlikely to ever make it to the NBA Championship with him.

The Warriors are going to be relying heavily on Steph Curry and Draymond Green next season. It looks like Durant could leave and while Thompson will be back, he’s going to miss a lot of the year.

The Clippers are priced low because they’ve been linked with Leonard. However, even if they manage to get Leonard, this isn’t a team that will contend in the West based on the current roster.

There’s just way too much value right now on the Nuggets. I guarantee these odds shorten.

It’s hard to predict who will win the 2020 NBA Championship right now. Many top contenders are in a state of uncertainty until after the superstars and stars sign in free agency next month.

Next season could prove to be even more exciting than last season. The Warriors dynasty appears to be over and I expect a new team to represent the West in the 2020 NBA Finals.

However, there’s plenty of value on the Raptors (6/1) and Nuggets (20/1) right now.

We’ll keep this article updated throughout free agency and the off-season. Expect the odds to move a lot the next month, as teams start to sign players and we get a better idea of the rosters.
