2019 NBA Finals Series Odds and Picks: Warriors vs. Raptors

Golden State Warriors(12-4) @ Toronto Raptors(12-6)

  • Where: Scotiabank Arena. Toronto, ON
  • When: May 30, 2019 9:00 pm EST
  • Spread: Warriors -1 (-110) vs. Raptors +1 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Warriors -120 vs. Raptors +100
  • Over / Under: Over 215 Points (-110) vs. Under 215 Points (-110)

The Golden State Warriors won the Western Conference for the fifth consecutive season and they’ve won three of the last four NBA Championships. The previous four finals appearances were against the Lebron-led Cavaliers, but the Warriors will try and three-peat against a new opponent.

For the first time in Toronto’s history, the Raptors have won the Eastern Conference. They couldn’t get the job done with DeMar DeRozan, but Kawhi Leonard has put the Raptors in the finals.

Odds to Win the 2019 NBA Championship

Despite injuries to Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins, the Warriors are still huge favorites to win their third consecutive NBA Championship. The public has been betting the Warriors price up and you should bet GSW now or TOR later in the week to get the best series odds.

Warriors vs. Raptors Playoffs Statistics

Raptors 2019 NBA Finals BettingThe Raptors are noticeably better defensively, but the Warriors have the edge in almost every other statistical category, especially on offense. The Raptors figured out the Bucks offense after the first two games of the ECF, but the Warriors present a much tougher challenge.

Predicting the winner of this series is difficult without concrete news on Durant’s availability. GSW lack depth and don’t receive much bench scoring. The Raptors bench ignited in the ECF with the likes of Serge Ibaka, Fred Vanvleet and Norman Powell all producing at times.

Toronto did a great job limiting Giannis Antetokounmpo last round. If they contain Stephen Curry and Durant remains out, the Raptors could steal this series and win their first NBA title. That’ll be tough though, as Curry scored 36.5 PPG against Portland, while averaging 8.3 RPG and 7.3 APG.

Draymond Green has stepped up in Durant’s absence too. Green almost averaged a triple-double in the WCF (16.5 PPG, 11.8 RPG, 8.8 APG, 2.8 BPG and 2.3 SPG). He was all over the court and I’m concerned the injured Pascal Siakam will have trouble matching the energy of Green.

Warriors 2019 NBA Finals BettingWhile Toronto’s hopes begin with Leonard, they need others to produce offensively to keep up with the high-scoring Warriors. Leonard could set an NBA record for the most points during a single postseason. Michael Jordan holds the record (759 points), but Leonard has 561 points and if he continues to average 31.2 PPG, he’d surpass the record if the series went seven games.

Two players that need to step up on offense for the Raptors are Siakam and Danny Green. Siakam went from 22.6 PPG in round 1 to 19.4 PPG in round 2 and then dropped to 14.5 PPG in the ECF. Green went from averaging 8.4 PPG in the first two rounds to 3.5 PPG against the Bucks. Green didn’t even score a single point in game 5 or 6 in the ECF. Toronto needs him to start draining some shots.

Warriors at Raptors Game 1 Money Line Prediction

The Raptors have home court advantage in the series and will start the series at home. The opening game is on Thursday, May 30th 2019 and the Warriors are small -1 point favorites.

Toronto are 8-2 in home games in the playoffs and have won the last five at home. The Raptors also went 2-0 against the Warriors during the regular season. They won the first regular season meeting at home 131-128 in overtime and then defeated the Warriors at Oracle Arena 113-93.

I believe making the NBA Finals will alleviate some of the pressure on the Raptors and they’ll come out firing lots of shots in the series opener. If the Raptors are hitting shots on offense, they have a great chance at winning, as the defense will be able to limit the Warriors offense.

You can bet on the Raptors money line at even money with Bovada.lv for the series opener.

Houston took their first two home games against the Warriors and the Raptors are talented enough to do the same. They need to limit the runs they let GSW go on, though. Against the Bucks they had to fight back from big deficits a lot of the time and that won’t be as easy against Golden State.
