The 2019 Azerbaijan Grand Prix is on Sunday morning (8:10 AM ET) and fans can watch the race live on ESPN (USA) or TSN (Canada). This is the fourth race of the 2019 F1 season and if the race is anything like last year, we’re in for an exciting weekend of racing.

This is only the third installment of the Azerbaijan GP. Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) won the inaugural race in 2017 and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) won in 2018.

Last year’s race at the Baku City Circuit was filled with suspense. Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) won pole position, but finished off the podium in fourth place. Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) was winning the race on lap 49, but he suffered a tyre puncture and had to retire.

In all, seven drivers retired during the 2018 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, including the previous year’s winner. Ricciardo and teammate Max Verstappen started #4 and #5 on the grid, but were involved in an accident together and both drivers received official reprimands.

Now the question for this year’s race is whether or not Hamilton can continue dominating the rest of the field. Hamilton leads the 2019 F1 driving standings with 68 points, which is six points ahead of his Mercedes teammate Bottas (62 Points). The two Mercedes drivers have finished 1st/2nd in the first three races of 2019, with Hamilton winning twice.

2019 Azerbaijan GP Best Bet – Winning Car

There are a lot of 2019 Azerbaijan Grand Prix betting markets up at Bovada.lv and bettors in the USA can sign-up and claim a $250 welcome bonus to bet on F1 racing.

Without question, the best bet for this week’s F1 race is on the winning car market. You can bet on Mercedes to have the winning car at close to even money. Mercedes have been unstoppable in 2019 and I’m confident Hamilton or Bottas will win in Baku.

Who Will Win the 2019 Azerbaijan Grand Prix

2019 Azerbaijan GP LogoI’ve already predicted Mercedes will win. Hamilton is priced at +150 to win the race, while Bottas is priced at +250. I recommend taking the higher odds with Bottas.

Bottas has performed well in Baku. He qualified in second and finished in second place in the 2017 race. In 2018, he qualified in third and finished 14th place. However, as I mentioned earlier, Bottas was winning the 2018 race before his tyre punctured and cost him the race.

Vettel (Ferrari) is priced second in the market with +225 odds to win the race, which is way too low to consider. Despite earning the pole last year, he finished off the podium. Vettel now has two fourth place finishes in the Azerbaijan GP and can be avoided at this price.

Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) is priced at +350 and a much better bet than Vettel. Leclerc was close to winning the Bahrain GP before technical failure (cylinder) and he was fortunate to still finish on the podium. The problem I have with betting on Leclerc is Ferrari’s insistence to order him to follow Vettel. Until he’s let loose, it’s hard to back him to win.

I don’t advise going against Mercedes in the winners market. If you want to target a driver you expect to perform well this week, take a look at Bovada’s top 6 and top 10 markets.

Hunting for Value to Finish in the Top 6 and Top 10 in the Azerbaijan GP

I love searching for a value bet or two in the top 6 and top 10 finish betting markets that Bovada offer for every F1 race. These markets add a lot of excitement to F1 betting.

Let’s start with the top 6 finish market. I’m betting on Kimi Raikkonen (+275). He could even surprise and finish on the podium, as there’s often a lot of retirements at Baku.

Raikkonen finished in second place after starting in sixth last year in this race. He’s still looking for his first top 6 finish in 2019 after changing teams. He has finishes of eighth (Australian GP), seventh (Bahrain GP) and ninth (Chinese GP) this season. If you don’t mind paying a bit of juice, Raikkonen to finish top 10 (-150) is a great bet as well.

Carlos Sainz Jr. is paying even money (+100) to finish in the top 10. Sainz has yet to score any points in the driver standings through three races, but he has great track form. He finished fifth (started #9) in 2018 and eighth (started #15) in 2017. McLaren is having a tough start to 2019, but they could secure some points at a track they’ve had success at.
