2017 NFL Super Bowl Odds: Patriots Tops Tight Betting Market

2017 NFL Super Bowl LogoWE’RE days away from the start of the NFL season. While I’m sitting here, watching preseason action, I thought it’d be a great time to finalize my Super Bowl LI predictions.

The NFL regular season may just be about to start, but the Super Bowl at NRG Stadium in Houston will be here before you know it in February. This season is expected to be closer than ever.

There are five teams paying between 8/1 and 10/1 to win the 2017 NFL Super Bowl – those include the Patriots, Seahawks, Panthers, Packers and Steelers.

Top contenders to win the 2017 NFL Super Bowl

Five teams are priced at 10/1 odds or lower, but will any of them win the Super Bowl?

The New England Patriots (8/1) will be without Tom Brady to start the season, but I still expect them to win the AFC East. Once Brady is back, he’ll be playing with a chip on his shoulder. Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman both need to stay healthy, but more importantly, the offensive line needs to improve.

Another team with o-line problems are the Seattle Seahawks (9/1). Russell Wilson is going to have to scramble often this season and he’ll be without Marshawn Lynch. Seattle are still beasts on defense and will earn a wild card spot in the NFL playoffs, but there are too many holes to win a Super Bowl.

Out of the five top contenders, the Carolina Panthers (9/1) have the best shot. They lost to the Broncos in last year’s Super Bowl, but the Panthers will have an even better offense with Kelvin Benjamin back. The highest scoring team from last year also brings back a solid defensive unit and will be tough to beat.

My picks to win Super Bowl 51

Arizona won 13 games last season, setting a franchise record for wins. The team remains mostly the same and they’re going to win the NFC West again, as the Seahawks have a lot of question marks. While they’ll make the playoffs, the big question is whether Carson Palmer can perform in the playoffs.

David Johnson should take some pressure off Palmer, but he has to remain healthy. Larry Fitzgerald isn’t likely to replicate last season’s numbers, but he has to have another good year. Michael Floyd, John Brown and J.J. Nelson also need to step up and make more big plays to take pressure off of the veterans.

The Cardinals bring back one of the best secondary units in the NFL and the front seven has been greatly improved with the signing of Chandler Jones and by drafting Robert Nkemdiche. As you know, anything can happen between now and the playoffs, but the Cardinals have a great shot at winning the Super Bowl.

My best value bet on 2017 Super Bowl futures is on the Kansas City Chiefs. Alex Smith is back, which isn’t the best news, but we know what to expect out of him. Travis Kelce and Jeremy Maclin provide a nice 1-2 combo through the air, but there’s no doubt the Chiefs will look to run the football more often than not.

Jamaal Charles is healthy and if he can stay that way, the Chiefs will have the #1 rushing offense. Charles is elite, plus the Chiefs also have Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware. This won’t be a high scoring team, so there will be pressure on the defense to perform up to expectations.

The offensive line lost Jeff Allen and Ben Grubbs, but there’s plenty of talent upfront still. Defensively, the Chiefs will be among the best in the league again. Eric Berry will lead the secondary, but the strength of KC’s defense is the front seven. They can pressure the QB and stop the run consistently.

Last year, the Chiefs earned a wild card spot, but they have a great chance to win the AFC West this year if they can stay healthy, as the Broncos are going to struggle offensively.

Odds to win the 2017 NFL Super Bowl for every team

This is going to be an exciting NFL season and there’s definitely no clear cut Super Bowl favorites.

Look at the Denver Broncos, they’re coming off a Super Bowl win and are priced at 26/1. Sure, they have QB issues, but they weren’t getting elite production at the position last year when they won a ring.
