2012 Pocono 400 Odds & Predictions

This weekend the 2012 Pocono 400 will be coming to us live from the Pocono Raceway. There have been changes to Pocono this year, as the race is now 400 miles instead of 500 miles. The shorter race should make it more exciting although the Pocono race has always been one of the more exciting NASCAR races due to the shape of the track. Those of you that want to wager on the race can bet on the latest odds on your Android, iPhone, iPad or other mobile device.

Who Will Win the 2012 Pocono 400?

Denny Hamlin is favoured to win the Pocono 400 despite his recent form not being that great. Hamlin has generally raced well at Pocono at that’s why he’s favoured this weekend. Hamlin won the Pocono 500 in 2009 and 2010, but last year he finished in 19th place despite starting the race in 4th place at the Pocono Raceway last year.

Hamlin is still the best driver on this track and he should be a contender after his poor result last season. At +425 there isn’t any value betting on Hamlin, but maybe the odds will drift a bit if he has a semi-poor qualification. Jimmie Johnson is only +475, but that’s because Johnson has been racing exceptionally well lately.

Johnson won in Dover last weekend to kick-off the month of June after having a great May. Johnson is now 5th in points and has a chance to move up even more with another win this weekend at Pocono. Jeff Gordon is a driver some bettors will be watching this weekend due to his success at Pocono throughout his career, but his recent form worries me.

Gordon has had a terrible season and he may not even make the 2012 Sprint Cup Series playoffs. Gordon needs to start winning and there isn’t a better track for him to get on track than Pocono, but I can’t see him turning things around. Gordon is priced as a favourite at +750 because he won the race last year. Gordon may finish in the T10, but don’t expect him to win.

Greg Biffle still leads the way in the Sprint Cup Series rankings, but only by a single point over Kenseth. Both drivers are paying +1500 to win this weekend and this is where the value is. Neither of these two drivers did well at Pocono last year and I’m not betting on this weekend. I will be betting on Earnhardt Jr at +1500 though, as he should be at the top again.

I picked Earnhardt Jr last weekend and he finished in 4th place. Earnhardt Jr has been having a great season and at +1500 I think there is value betting on him. Earnhardt Jr also finished in 6th place last year here and I think we’ll see an improvement. This week I’m going to bet on Earnhardt Jr in the each-way market (T4 Makes Money). The each-way betting odds are from Bet365 Mobile.

• Bet on Dale Earnhardt Jr Each-Way at +1400 (T1) / +350 (T4)
