2012 Australian Gold Fields Open Betting Tips

The 2012 Australian Gold Fields snooker tournament has been going on this week down under, but the action is just heating up for the weekend with the quarter-final match-ups almost set. You can still bet on the 2012 Gold Fields Open using a Blackberry or other mobile device at Ladbrokes Mobile, but the outright winner odds won’t be available for much longer so make sure you wager on your pick now.

Odds to Win the 2012 Australian Gold Fields Open

• Neil Robertson 11/4
• Ding Junhui 9/2
• Shaun Murphy 9/2
• Stephen Lee 6/1
• Matthew Stevens 10/1
• Martin Gould 18/1
• Mark Davis 18/1
• Ryan Day 18/1
• Barry Hawkins 22/1
• Peter Ebdon 25/1
• Marco Fu 25/1
• Jamie Burnett 25/1
• Cao Yupeng 40/1
• Matthew Selt 50/1

Can Neil Robertson Win the 2012 Gold Fields Open This Weekend?

Shaun Murphy and Stephen Lee have both earned their spot in the quarter-finals already while the other 12 players still need to play their “Last 16” match before the weekend. Neil Robertson is the favourite to win the tournament this weekend at 11/4 now, but those odds will shorten soon. Robertson has been backed all week in his home country and 11/4 is a good price on him.

I’d be shocked if Robertson didn’t win his next match against Mark Davis. If Neil wins his match he’ll most likely have a tougher match in the quarter-finals against the winner of Martin Gould vs. Cao Yupeng. Robertson is the #5 ranked snooker player in the world right now, but if he has to play Gould it will be a tough test of form. Gould is the #16 ranked snooker player in the world.

Ding Junhui is the only player ranked higher than Robertson still in the tournament. Junhui is ranked #4 in the world right now, but he’s on the bottom half of the draw and wouldn’t meet Robertson until the finals if they played each other. Stevens is one of the underdogs on the betting lines that stands out to me. Matthew Stevens has been in good form and he’s paying 10/1

The top half of the draw is definitely much tougher than the bottom half. Shaun Murphy and Stephen Lee are both in good form, but my money is on Junhui to get through the bottom draw and into the finals at the 2012 Gold Fields Open. There are numerous players with long odds, but this is a tough draw and I can’t see an underdog being able to win another 4 matches in a row.

Robertson worries me, but he has a tough enough road just to get to the finals. The Australian is in great form and he has been saying that he really wants to win this tournament this weekend. With the pressure of his home crowd on him I think once he gets into some tougher match-ups we’ll see him falter.

If you really want an underdog to bet on the best value is on Jamie Burnett in my opinion. Burnett just beat world #1 Selby 5-3 in the previous round and he’s still paying 25/1, but that’s because of the tough field. This weekend should be full of great snooker, so make sure you tune in and place your bets using the Ladbrokes Mobile app while you can.

• Bet on Ding Junhui 2pts at 9/2
